There are some clues in this thread.

When Simpson came on I remarked to my mate that it was nice of us to go down to 10 men as well too level things up! How that guy gets any minutes now is beyond me....his complete lack of desire is painful too see. I think his confidence is shot too bits and he's just 'hiding' but for a young man on (lets guess 5-6k a week at Huddersfield) and with his contract ticking down, he really needs to sort himself out. Otherwise he will drop out of the game very quickly. Need to do our best too terminate the loan in January...

Aside from the last 15 minutes once they (out of nothing) scored their goal, we looked like we were heading towards a very very comfortable win. Maybe a 3 or 4-0er. Of course though, that goal changed everything. Prior to that I thought some of our passages of play were sublime (after we'd taken the lead that is). Bowie worked tirelessly, he's a real tryer. The polar opposite too the aforementioned Simpson. His goal summed up what he is all about, chasing down a lost cause and getting his rewards after a mix up between keeper and defender. Super Sam's goal came at the end of what was a wonderful move involved a fair few players.

The only negative (other than my Simpson rant) was that we really made things hard for us during the closing stages. We should have kept Bowie on. I know why we didn't but that sub changed everything. We stopped pressing their defenders and retreated way too deep. Monthe's dithering at the end could have cost us the game, all he had too do was concede the throw in and the fulltime whistle would have probably been blown before they could have got the ball back in our box. That's basic stuff!

In the end though, it was job done. 4 points outside the bottom 4, with a not too bad injury list. Interestingly (I was in hospitality yesterday) Fox was interviewed and after hobbling through the restaurant in his protected cast thing, seemed too suggest he was hoping for a January return. Not sure whether he meant a return too training or actually playing. But either way, that contradicted too the rumour on the other thread that he wouldn't be playing again this season. Fingers crossed, he's a good player and clearly a really good lad, and has been really unfortunate with injuries.

Just back from NTFC Ladies 3 - 0 Sheffield FC Ladies - special mentions to Kim Farrow - leading if not captain, Jade Bell, Alex Dicks and Mia Richards.

Observations from Cambridge Utd game yesterday;

More of a Hoskins fan than naysayer but, he missed an absolute hatful - some greedily taking a wayward shot when a pass could have paid dividends.

Burge needs to be brought back asap - Thompson made two poor Alan Parry's in the second half - one punished. 2-0 would have been a fairer reflection for the result.

Both sets of fans quite subdued yesterday, until we went 2-0 up. Some of their young lads singing "We've had a shot" after 25 mins was telling!

Traffic a horror in the town centre yesterday - at a gridlock around Northgate. Even so, Stagecoach management need shooting for having between 4.55pm to 5.25pm, a D3 Daventry bound and three 15 St Giles bound busses - zero towards town!
Shouldn't they consider a double decker special leaving at 5.10pm as so many other clubs do? Maybe a question for Tom Cliffe.

Low block is a pathetic buzzword adopted by those that like buzzwords...you mean parking the bus don't ya!

Just another day….
There can’t be a place (inc several areas of the town) with worse traffic consistently, including London.

Might help if they got around to sorting Bridge St out, and reopening it to traffic.

It’s like watching a rolling road block from my parents window on Bants Lane. Kingsthorpe is atrocious, as is Spencer Bridge. St Peter’s Way, York Road/Cliftonville awful. Mind you Daventry is getting worse.
Pity we won’t be around to benefit from the decline in population.
Can’t wait to move to somewhere more sedate in a couple of years.

Are you going to join me in Yorkshire? Find a nice place in t' Dales where it is flocks of sheep that block the road.

Handy for Carlisle away (the location, not the sheep).

Or with us in the South Downs, handy for Pompey away... Wink

The plan (in two years) is to take early retirement and a 'free year' of scouting the country for our final abode. I like Harrogate but a bit pricey. Probably end up in Cornwall (a quieter part), the Peaks, Shropshire or Norfolk. Anywhere less populated, with online Ocado deliveries and a hospital within 30 minutes. Sadly the latter becomes more important the older you get! Decent sized house with decent garden will do me. My original first choice would have been somewhere like Brancaster but the prices have shot up.
That and plenty of international travel (health permitting a couple of winter months away), you can't take it with you!

Probably end up in Cornwall (a quieter part), Shropshire.

I used to spend a week in Cornwall playing golf (mostly in May or June) before the school holidays. Fantastic if you enjoy relatively good weather, good walks and golf (so many courses). I would imagine the rather narrow roads get very congested in the high season.

Spent many years in and around Shrewsbury trying to help elderly parents. A significant variety of retirement properties (bungalows, flats, Care Homes) at very affordable prices (not necessarily the Care Homes) and management charges very reasonable (and have remained so for at least 10 years now). The rail station (though terribly dilapidated) gets you easily to Birmingham, the North West and into Wales.

I retired in October, so much time to do those things that I needed or wanted to do. Still reffing and have taken up golf again to keep physically active.
I'm loving it but now I'm wondering how I had the time to work.  Wink
