I thought I would start this again for this season as so far our games are panning out completely different to last season when I think that only once or possibly twice were we losing at half time in home matches. This season we have scored so few first half goals and conceded so many early goals. So breaking the games down into segments this is what we have:-

 0 - 15 mins   scored 1   conceded 7
16 - 30 mins             2                 5
31 - HT                    2                  1      1st half scored 5 and conceded 13

46 - 60 mins   scored 6   conceded 3
61 - 75 mins              2                 2
76 - 90 mins              4                 6
After 90 mins             4                 2      2nd half scored 16 and conceded 13

So in the first 15 minutes we have conceded more goals than we have scored in the whole of the first half and we have conceded almost half of our goals in the first 30 minutes.
We are then consistently having to come from behind and we have not won a match from coming behind.
We have gained just 2 point from losing positions, drawing at home to Lincoln after being 0-2 down and drawing with Orient after being 0-1 down.
We have lost 5 points from winning positions, dropping 3 points at Wigan after taking the lead and 2 points in the same Orient game after we had overturned the 0-1 deficit to lead 2-1 but then conceding a late equaliser.

I think what theses stats show is that we massively have to improve our first half performance as we cannot continue to keep conceding the first goal.

I agree I think first 5 minutes we always start strong but the let the opposition in. Like the stars show if we can get to 30 minutes without conceding I'm always confident we can get something from the game

Thanks for interesting info OAP on goals timetable. Is it possible to identify those games where Guthrie was not playing?

We have a slightly better record in the league when Guthrie hasn't played as to when he has but there's very little in it.

If you remember last season we conceded we conceded a lot of goals in the period just after half time but this season that has been our most productive period for goals scored.

Probably down a bit after our last two games but quite remarkably before the Blackpool game we were 4th in the league table if you only take into account second-halves. I thought it was an interesting stat when you consider how weak our bench has been for most of the season.

Do you think that the 2nd half improvement is down to Brady and half time talk/ amending tactics?

Id have expected us to struggle in the back end of games given our 'bench' but the complete opposite, thus far! Funny old game.

Generally, it appears that whoever scores the first goal wins.

Not sure what Brady can glean out of this data. Other than too tell his players too come out of the traps quicker, I guess. But that never seems to be an issue anyway, most of the games we've lost (even on Saturday) we've started off alright!

I think perhaps the biggest telling factor to come out of them though is that once we are behind, the opposition will tighten up and our creative players are given even less space to work in. We kind of know where we are limited and these stats at least back that up. Although in other areas, there's a lot of conflict with them.

I will update this after the new years game but we still need to be scoring more first half goals. So far we have scored 28 goals but only 8 of these have been in the first half with 20 in the second. Our most prolific periods have been the 15 minutes after HT with 7 goals and after 90 mins with 6 goals.

Updated stats after 25 games

 0 - 15 minutes - scored 1  conceded 8
16 - 30                          6                5
31 - HT                          2                2        First half scored 9  conceded 15

46 - 60 minutes - scored 8  conceded 2
61 - 75                          3                7
76 - 90                          5                7
After 90                         6                2       Second half scored 22  conceded 18

Still not enough first half goals but we seem to be strong immediately after HT and 11 of our 31 goals have come after 75 minutes.
27 of the 33 goals conceded have come in 2 blocks, 13 conceded in the first 30 minutes and 14 conceded between 61 and 90 minutes.
