As rumours seem to have already started (Leonard) and it's only just over a month away, it therefore seems a good time to start this topic again.

A few possibilities to start :

Leonard to be recalled?
Simpson to be recalled/sent back?
A bid for Super Sam?
Haynes to be offloaded?
Hylton...?
Willis to be offered contract extension?

Let the rumours begin.

It might be a year too early but Reuben Wyatt has the potential to play a similar role.

Can't they just leave us out of the whole thing… I can't stand this degree of uncertainty.

Doesn’t pretty much every team suffer with this issue? I was talking to a Man U fan the other day and they were bemoaning how many of their signings have been deemed failures (Sancho in particular). Got me thinking about what approval figure would constitute a successful recruitment record, 70%? Either way any sort of change when you lose an outstanding player is always a big risk.

You mean we have to keep Simpson?!?

Come on, let's be part of it, it's exciting.

Which son of a star shall we try next?  The Heskey lads are doing well at Manchester City, take a punt on the older one.

I remember over 20 years ago I compiled a complete team in WALOC under the banner of 'why do we always sign the sh*t brother?'

Thankfully I have slept since and can hardly remember any of them.

Think all of that is a possibility.
If we are able to keep hold of Leonard it would be huge, but wouldnt be shocked to see him move up a league.
I think its universally accepted that we want Simpson gone and it has simply just not worked for him here.
I cant see anyone stumping up the kind of cash it would require to prise Super Sam away from us
Haynes im sure we will try to offload.
Feel like we will be burdened with Hylton until the end of the season when he will probably retire and take up a coaching role at Luton.
Willis got to be worth an 18 month deal, until the end of the season at the very least.
Could also see Lintott being loaned out potentially with McGowan back in favour and Odimayo ahead of him in the pecking order. Perhaps Dyche back on loan to the same team he was loaned out to previously.

In terms of additions I think a replacement for Leonard is a must if he goes. An additional winger and striker would be the ideal scenario but who knows, will probably rely on outgoings.

Im fairly optimistic Leonard will stay.

He obviously come back for reason and could have definitely gone to more established clubs.

There's no room for sentiment in the game that's for sure, just think he may, may be in it for the Brady cause.

Brighton wanted him to play in a higher division, and we fulfilled that requirement. They may choose to do the same in January, and Marc may not have a say in the matter this time. Hopefully not, and Southampton can keep away as well.

My son in law who is a Cardiff fan sent me a report from Wales on line saying that both Cardiff and Swansea are keen on signing Leonard due to his performances for us - they quote 7 mom performances this season in 20 matches. He could definitely play at Championship level.

As for Sammy I would slap a prohibitive price tag on him, at the very least £1M as we would be buggered without him, even that though wouldn't be enough for me.

I would definitely try to send back Simpson, and try and sign Michael Cheek from Bromley who has already scored 10 this season and plenty in seasons past. Mind you Michael Caine would be better than Simpson and probably quicker.

I can’t see us signing a 32 yo non league striker due to lack of any sell on value.

Yes, it is because I invited him back whilst on the pitch at Tranmere. No other reason. FACT. I'll have a word about staying. Leave it to me.

From The Pompey News:
"Northampton Town could have their work cut out to bring Marc Leonard back to Sixfields for another season as his performances attract Championship suitors.

Football Insider reports that rivals Swansea City and Cardiff City are set to bid for the Brighton loanee, who is currently spending his second spell at Northampton Town. The outlet reports that Swansea could even make swift moves to encourage Brighton to recall the star and sell him to the side this January."
