True, but at 202 with over half of the overs and eight wickets remaining, I'd have expected quite a few more.
I was wondering how close we would get to 500.

Do we really have what you could call a strike bowler?

I thought that we did well on a very flat wicket that gave our bowlers nothing. It makes a welcome change to have a first day of a test without a dozen or more wickets falling. A good possibility of a return to a test that'll last the full five days...

The attendance is woeful and suggests Test cricket is as good as dead in ****stan.

A good second day of cricket. England with it all to do, will it be Bazball or traditional test cricket to initially not follow on and then go on for the win? 96-1 at close of play is a good start. Be interesting to see if Ben Duckett bats in this innings.

Crawley's in excellent nick. That wicket looks like a batsman's paradise. I hesitate to suggest that Root and Crawley could go big here. A real shame so few are watching at the ground and they are promising to give away tickets for free in a week's time.

I don't think it's test cricket that is dead, it is a general disenchantment within the populace according to a friend of mine from there.

They could give me a ticket and pay for the flight and I still wouldn't go as I can't have a beer whilst watching.

Not a huge cricket fan but did listen to most of the days play on TMS. You don't get 3 day tests in ****stan. Root sounded spent towards the end. The only real chance of a result seems to be us building a first innings lead and putting some pressure on.

A really good third days play for England, it'll be an interesting final two days depending on how England want this to progress in tomorrows first session. Joe Root was struggling to walk and/or play kneeling sweep shots let alone anything else, the much younger Brook was also struggling. The conditions are so testing, even the Kites weren't flying. An excellent knock puts Joe Root ahead of Alistair Cook as the top English run scorer in Tests (12,578), fifth in the world list which is topped by Sachin Tendulker on 15,921.

After Pak*stan racked up 556 in the first innings, to be 1/33 to beat them (most likely be an innings) is some going. It was great listening today. One maiden in the innings and a strike rate of 5.5 across 150 overs! Records were being beaten all over the place.

Another excellent day of test match cricket. The current best batsman in the world partnering probably one of the best of the future to a record partnership. It felt like personal, England and/or world records were being toppled, equalled or challenged every couple of overs. The way they were able to put their foot on the gas to achieve a challenging declaration, followed by the initial ****stan six wicket batting collapse, has put England in the driving seat for a fifth day win, something far from our thoughts after the ****stan first innings. Looking forward to tomorrow's play...

That was an amazing win.
It was, happy for Jack Leach to get the last three wickets as well. Unbelievable result after the runs that ****stan put on the board after the first couple of days. A match that justified the term 'Test'.

Having scored 556 in the first innings I doubt that thoughts entered their heads that may lose by an innings, an incredible game.
