Agreed. I think he's good enough. 2 years is a bit of a risk given his injury record, but with our budget it seems these risks are inevitable to guarantee having decent players. If Sherring stays, and Magloire stays fit we have a strong League 1 standard central defence. Might be one area not to worry about.

Very pleased with Willis. Steady league one player.

That's the club showing a lack of ambition. If it's a two year contract, he'll never be able to perform in the Championship after we win promotion next season.  Tongue

If Willis stays fit he may be a better player than Sherring and more experienced too.

Magloire may be better too, but will we ever find out?

Willis is stastically a big drop off in quality from Sherring last year. Guthrie was still a hair better performance wise, but there wasn't really anyone remotely close to him being the second best centre-back at the club.

Sure.

Code:
Aerials Won pg Aerial Win % Tackles pg Dribbled Past Intereceptions pg Clearences Pass % Succesful Passes pg
Guthrie 3.8              65%            1.2            0.3            1.3              5.5            74.6     41.8
Sherring 3.6              64%            1.2            0.4            0.9              4.5            72.4     50.2
Willis 2.8              62%            0.6            0.3            0.5              3.5            64     29.7
Monthe 2.2              66%            0.2            0.2            0.2              1.5            67.1     20.8
Dyche 1              40%            0            0.5            0               1            45     5

The point isn't to pillory Jordan, who would not have been fully fit for a lot of it, but more to point out that Sherring was a big player for us, and Willis doesn't quite match that yet. We definitely need to be looking at someone equal to Guthrie to come in with the wages we've freed up by losing Sam.

I don't think we freed up wages by losing MK Sherring. More like he did.

Very good mate. I would also add, who had the most games partnering Guthrie?

I know everyone moans about resigning players, but the one player I would have back like a shot is Jordan Turnbull. Someone told me his contract at Tranmere is up.
