Cobblers have signed Dominic Gape on a contract until the end of the season, a defensive midfielder who has made seven appearances for Sutton this season, prior to that he spent seven years at Wycombe. https://www.ntfc.co.uk/news/2024/february/dominic_gape/

Another one with persistent injuries but a decent stop gap signing if the contract is a low risk one.

Seems to be the case. Let’s hope not though. I wonder how long till he gets injured? Assume he’s on a pay as you play deal rather than us wasting more wages on the treatment table.

Probably worth the risk.
Seems a decent defensive midfielder when he is fit.

It sounds like he's exactly what we need with McWilliams and Sowerby out and frees up Leonard to get further forward.
Yes, he's an injury concern but has a good pedigree and I assume he's on very low wages the way Osew and Norman were last year, so low risk for us and allows him to keep his foot in the door in playing terms. Win win.

Some posters were wanting the club to sign a defensive midfielder, now the club have, they’re still picking fault! Malignantly discontented

Wycombe fans really rate him, he's just horrifically injury prone.

According to the Cobblers website he turned down a contract at Sutton, so not "released", which suggests he wasn't wanted. The injury prone part though was seemingly inevitable. Maybe a necessary short-term measure in this case, but we must stop this policy of signing injury-prone players. Any quality they may have is outweighed by the time spent on the sidelines.

Don’t let facts get in the way of a good story though!

Perhaps it was considered prudent to give him some training time with his new team mates before throwing him in against the team top of the league. Or maybe JB doesn’t have a clue.
