I think it all depends on when we get our midfield back, we desperately need Shaun and Jack back in the team, if they are back for the beginning of March I can see us finishing 17th or 18th if they break down agin or donít return then I can see a relegation battle and the inevitable happening yet again, Reading are flying and Vale will have a managerial bounce, we are only 10 points from the drop zone with 17 to play, thatís 51 points left.

Vale a managerial bounce! They haven't won literally all year, hardly managed a shot last night against a very in form Orient - despite having three managers to bounce!
Now in the relegation zone...and my prediction - lucky if they get as much bounce as the ball in the puddle at Cambridge last night!
Reading are bouncing though - I'll give you that!  Wink

Thatís the spirit!
People through out 52, it wonít be 52 season.
Besides, the more required to get safety most likely means the less will be required for the POís.
There are only so many points to share around, itís basic maths.

Iíd imagine even the most pessimistic can see us getting the other
8-10 points from 17 games!

I can see us getting them from the next four.

"The Teyn are staying up" was an appropriate response to Pompey's "We're top of the league" chant on Saturday

I said when we were 9th that I'd settle for 15th so I'll stick with that. I'd like to think we could still reach 60 points. Maybe Marvo knows where that would normally leave us in terms of position.

I agree that having McWilliams and/or Sherring back soonish could make a significant difference. Failing that, hopefully Gape can help to fill that gap.

Relegated next year, the likes of Cheltenham, Carlisle, Fleetwood will be replaced by Stockport and Wrexham.
Our only hope is to seek outside investment or our current owners to exit, DOOMED.

We almost always do worse the second time round in the third tier and I see no reason whatsoever why we could expect to do better. Therefore it is imperative we finish this season as high as we can to give us more room for manoeuvrability.

So with that kind of commitment to the cause, guess you won't be sitting infront of your laptop next season eh?

We almost

Almost but not always. A bit unknown until we assemble our new squad but confident with the management team. Probably our best chance of becoming a stable L1 feature but we know how quickly things can change. Weíre no nearer to competing at the top end granted.

Do you have stats of where we have been in the table, positions and points the previous 1st seasons we have been promoted? Or after 23 games?
Feels like we are better set this time round but I think I have thought that before!

SHOCK, Manwork makes another repetative criticism of our owners! We knew your opinion with your initial post so we do not need the nauseating repeats again,..........and again................and again!

You obviously have no life!

Why laptop? I watch on my TV.

Sorry, I'm a numbers man. You should recall when everyone was shitting themselves about being in a relegation dog fight this season, I was the one assuring everybody we'd be fine. That's what history tells us. I didn't hear you complaining then.
Now history indicating something else. Like Davcob says, that doesn't mean it will happen, it's just very likely. Not to worry though, if we were to finish where we are now, there's plenty of scope between 11th & 20th.

I'm not sure though why you concern yourself, the Cobblers always come second to you, pubs being your priority and whatever happens on the field I'm sure the pubs will remain open. I'm actually quite jealous, must be nice not caring about the result.

Yes, there is a thread on here, "First season back table" and No, we're not doing better this time round, slightly worse.

Now the transfer window is closed and we can see what we have to work with how many points do you think we will have when the season ends?

February looks as though it could be a tough month unless we can get injured players back so probably a low points haul, with this in mind I am predicting 57 points which should see us finish around 14th/15th.
61 points so about 12th which would be happy with. Think we are about to go on a very bad run so need to hold nerve before a more comfortable run in
