You might be right you might be wrong. Dont be comparing yourself to a scientist though. Thing about those chaps, or at least the respected ones, is they ensure the findings are collated and presented impartially to demonstrate integrity. The motives behind your bizarre voting strategy for the POTS probably cast a little cloud over your credibility.
Well its definitely an opinion subject to peer review  Grin Grin
However us scientists are more likely to accept an opinion if it can make a prediction and that prediction can be tested experimentally.

Observations
Theory
Prediction
Experiment
Results
Analysis which can SUGGEST that the theory is likely to be correct or not.

What you wont get is a scientist telling you its FACT.

But you haven’t provided the data have you, you’ve provided a small sample of selective stats off the back of a bit of a agenda against Hoskins, that included ensuring for some odd reason that he didn’t win the worthless POTS award “just to see if I could” and the ridiculous propositions around his missed penalty. You then followed this up on the latest fact finding mission with the rather dogmatic statement “there are none so blind that will not see”. Not exactly sure how you expected all this to be interpreted, but to claim you haven’t drawn a conclusion regarding Hoskins is a bit silly. As I said right at the start, you might be right, you might be wrong, but your anti Hoskins track record probably casts a little cloud over your credibility regarding your “facts”. As such you can present all the “facts” you like but a fair proportion of people remain unconvinced. Probably why professional statisticians strive to stay impartial, stops any ridicule.

A small sample? Yeah right. Every game since Brady became manager.

If its worthless, why does it matter so much to you?

A fair proportion? I'd say 99% but that's okay because I'm not trying to convince anybody.

I'm happy with what I do. The people that enjoy these posts mainly stay quiet because they don't want to open themselves up to the mob abuse you attract on here when you go against the majority view. People are always quicker to complain than they are to compliment, just ask any business about the correspondence they receive. The point is, NOBODY would be aware of the stark contrast in results when Hoskins plays if I hadn't pointed them in that direction. Now they do so for me, job done.

10 missed games v 132 played isnt comparative and equal data so it doesnt really tell the full story. However, it does show that we might not be as reliant on him as we think... the next few games could signifcantly change the stats ("facts") though and make a slight improvement to the data set, so perhaps update it when he's back.

I gave you examples of what could be mitigating or additional factors that could or should be considered, in my opinion the data you presented was limited and as such gave an incomplete perspective. I think that’s a reasonable evaluation, I note you’ve avoided addressing this point? What abuse have you received, I’ve questioned the validity of your “facts” but Isn’t that the point of debate.

Personally I think 10 games is a lot (two months of a season). If I employed you as a scout and asked you to go and look at somebody with a view to signing them, I wouldn't expect you to need 10 games in which to make a recommendation.

I never said I get abuse, I said if you take a view opposite to that of the majority you open yourself up to abuse. For me it's water off a ducks back, I'm used to it and it shows I'm making an impact. Who want to post something that nobody reacts to, be a complete waste of valuable time.

Everything has mitigating and or additional factors, it would be nigh on impossible to compare with 100% accuracy different managers/players/results. Thankfully that's not what I'm trying to do, just reporting the facts as they have occurred and trying to explain why I am not too concerned by Hoskins absence, which I believe I have done.

Again, you might be right, but your track record hasn’t helped with the observations. A point I made initially to explain my scepticism regarding its validity, which I too believe I have done.

By the way, as a matter of interest I’ve just asked the business and we get considerably more compliments than complaints, with 5 star Google reviews, just saying.

Oh. I guess that's because the easy way it is to respond now. Back in the days when you had to write letters that wouldn't have been the case. Tapping on a star is quite an easy thing to do so everybody will vote whereas previously only those with a real point to make would bother.

That would be my mitigating circumstance.

The compliments versus complaints are direct emails. The Google reviews were additional supporting data.

I receive and send dozens of emails every week. Have a guess how many letters I used to write and receive each week.

I go on TripAdvisor and Booking.com and rate hotels after staying at them. Have a guess how many I rated before the internet.

Different world pal.

I sleep better knowing that Marvo is looking out for us! I think McGowan’s pitch pounding was a little OTT

So on that basis if you wrote a letter to the club with the information about their performances with Sam Hoskins in the team it would be far more relevant than posting it on here. You should try it.

I recommend using a quill and some scented note paper to maximise the effect.

Bolton manager says he will contest both red cards, don't think he has much chance with his comments to the referee. He also says that he is not sure the player even touched McGowan, he seems to have got a touch of the Ferguson's.
