I've done a new graph for you to show you just where each Cobblers manager was in the league after each game in their first attempt in the third tier. Just a couple of caveats for you to help understand.

These are the positions of the team after each game. However they can be misleading because sometimes the Cobblers could have played more or less games than their counterparts.

For the younger members on here, in the old days, seasons didn't finish on the same day. That's why I've put a line in at the end for our finishing position. In both the Bowen and |Carr years when we completed our final game we were higher in the table than our finishing position because other teams still had games to play. Thankfully that doesn't happen anymore.

I love a good graph. Colour works well for my comprehension as well.

Any chance of splitting it up into 5 game blocks?

Only joking - it wouldn't work in a historical context, it would be like King Harold being depicted on the Bayeux Tapestry as being hit in the eye by an Exocet missile.

Is it my screen or does it only go up to 39 games?

And not meaning to be fussy but it's titled "complete season" so Brady should not really feature. Not yet anyway.

Ok, maybe I am being fussy but a more "useful" output would be 2nd season position. Given all the featured managers managed to stay up in season one but not gain promotion, this graph, whilst colourful, doesn't really show any great insight.

If I was being cynical I'd say it's designed to try and show that Brady "isn't as good" as the other featured managers. If so, again it would be more objective to show the season end position (which is 46 games BTW

It is your screen, shows fine on my laptop and it does show the full 46 games, plus the final position. Brady is included but you'll note his line only goes up to the 30 game mark, so it is a perfectly in order, it is not trying to imply anything, should Brady win his next half a dozen games his line will rise, I have no control over that. It seems to me you just don't like the truth on display.

How can I give you next seasons graph now when we have nothing to compare it with? I'll do it when the time is right and I'll tell you this for nothing, it will be whatever it will be, no manipulation required.

Anyway I've made the picture smaller, I don't know that will help with your equipment.

Histogram versus frequency polygon, discuss.

Cheers, the resizing has helped and now shows all 46 games, no equipment issues here I assure.

You did miss my points though.... You can't show Brady objectively as he hasn't completed a season. Incremental league positions really count for very little ; only the position after 46 games counts. As for second season positions, obviously Brady couldn't be included, why would I demand that when I don't believe he should even be included in the first season chart you have provided. My point in this case was that historically, in my memory anyway, it's not the first season up that catches us out, it's the next one (usually).

I appreciate I'm perhaps a "rough crowd" but if I rocked up to work with some of your graphics and supposed facts supported by inadequate samples, Id get some bemused looks and eventually, a P45. You really could've just listed the managers and the finishing positions if what you were aiming to indicate was levels of success. Granted though, if your aim by showing as a progress chart was to invite some chat about ups and downs over the season then fair enough. But still not sure what useful insight that provides

I'm sorry but you do spout nonsense. The idea of the graph is you can see where Brady stands in relation to the other managers at every stage of the season up until the present 30 game mark. If for example it was showing lets say how many products you'd sold in previous years against this year, you can see by the graph line that you are behind in sales. Maybe if you were in charge of sales you would get your P45 much quicker than you anticipate above. If however the graph line was above the others at this point, you'd probably get a bonus.

Anyway thankfully you're views aren't shared by everybody so I suggest you ignore my posts in future and leave those that enjoy these sort of posts in peace.

This isn't sales though is it? And even if it were, there'd be underlying reasons for variances which you can't show in a simple graph and which would be the actual talking point. So.... Whilst all this is highly factual and highly colourful to boot, it still doesn't really provide anything of value. But hey, you clearly enjoy doing them so you knock yourself out. There is potentially an interesting conversation to be had around why some managers performed better or worse at certain points but Im not sure you're interested in those as they're "subjective opinion".

Which I thought was kind of the point of this forum....

The question is, if you don't think this provides any interest or merit, why do you keep posting?

Because you keep insisting your output has some kind of merit. I disagree and there are the two differing opinions... Which is the point of posting... to offer opinions.

You just don't like being challenged fella. You never have....

But you've made your point over and over and over again so stop reading the thread if you don't think it has any merit. Others do.
