I listened to an interview, with the professor that won this tribunal case, on the radio the other day. Seems to me the OU treated her very poorly and in general Uni's have a growing problem with free speech and how to handle it. My view has always been that as long as comments being made are legal then the way to challenge is by listening and offering different voew points. Simply shutting down opposing views does more damage than good. My only criticism of the professor is why they called their group "Gender Critical Research Network". The term "Gender Critical" is used by some to mean anti Trans which they would well know. Also comes across as overly negative. I'm assuming most of those that were critical just made an assumption based on the name and it gathered pace. As for trans gender. I think BOTN summed it up really well. One of my best friends transitioned about six years ago. Absolutely the best thing they ever did for themselves. A stressfull, time consuming and difficult process though. It's a shame, much like every subject, that the press and some members of the public only seem interested in the extreme stories that make up a tiny fraction of what is happening in the real world.

Just really surprised that a court has made a judgement based on common sense.

I guess it is...if you are a man. Interesting debate, which they seem to be pointing towards the now 'outdated' NHS guidance first. Will we have toilets for males, females, trans women, trans men (excuse my ignorance of the correct terms) and accessible toilets? There is no law against offering unisex toilets, so that solves the issue but you can imagine everyone kicking off over that one. Toilet for humans. If you identify as a tree you shouldn't need a p*ss but may need watering. I am sure the implications will be wide ranging. Sport, prisons, changing rooms etc. Thank god we don't have a trans person at work, although I am sure it will come up and there'll be a capital request in to increase the facilities.

Now that you have mentioned prisons, something that has been bugging me. The recent attack on prison officers at HMP Frankland, involving knives and hot fat. One of the three officers involved was a woman. A lass was guarding one of the most dangerous prisoners in the UK currently serving a minimum of 55 years in a max security jail. It should be Mr Mackay, not Miss. Napper Wainwright, not Norma. I know that women officers have a role to play in the penal system, but common sense should prevail, and the safety of all officers on "front line" duty should be paramount. And why were stab vests not issued? I noticed that security at NGH wear them, during my last visit there. Anyways, lasses want equality, but they dont get it in my eyes, until they learn to clean the car, and put fuel in it. And get spiders out of the bath.

I spent many many years, both involved in, and training de-escalation. And was personally involved in hundreds, if not thousands of actual physical interventions. In secure hospitals and prisons. I trained others in the original control and restraint, right up to modern techniques like NAPPI. At no time did I ever doubt the value of women in the both de-escalation, or physical intervention. But I don’t care who I offend. At times, the need for physical strength was very obvious. I'm not even sure this particular incident was influenced by the gender of those present. So I can’t comment on that aspect of it. But I can say with total confidence, it happened because of a complete lack of competence, in terms of both dynamic and in situ risk assessment, and knowledge of the risk the little cùnt presented.

And given the risk that the little **** presented, do you believe that stab vests should have been issued, and that he should not have been near the kitchen in the first place?
