‘Minutes’ from the Fans Advisory Board Meeting – 27 August 2024 (My Interpretation)
1.   Playing Budget – As has been publicised in the media, the initial playing budget has been increased and, with days left in the transfer window, it is anticipated that that our business hasn’t been fully completed, yet. Ongoing.
2.   Player Loans – The club is happy with the standard of the loan players we have attracted for this season, which is a reflection of the reputation that we have built up for ‘looking after’ our previous loan players.
3.   East Stand – Happy with the progress, still on schedule, a great visual improvement from the West Stand. The basic outline of boxes, rooms and the disabled platform are emerging.  Ongoing.
4.   Executive Boxes - A slight change to the original (initial historical) plan in that a larger box has been added/included at each end of the planned ‘standard’ size centre boxes (2 in total). It is planned to name each box, room and facilities in the East Stand after individuals, not necessarily players, who have played and/or contributed to the club over the years and would warrant an appropriate recognition.  Supporters are invited to recommend their preferences, suggestions on here will be coordinated and submitted for consideration. Ongoing.
5.   Further Development – Following the anticipated completion of the East Stand, planned further development have been discussed, extensions to the North and South Stands, Fans Village, Carrs Bar etc… Nothing has been decided but discussions have taken place, considering priorities and cost effectiveness of each of any subsequent developments. Projected timelines for any future developments have not been declared. Ongoing.
6.   Fan Engagement Policy – It’s a working document which will be revised and amended as and when required, based on the use/adoptive experiences. Ongoing.
7.   Child Tickets – The problems with obtaining child U14 tickets without an accompanying adult was raised. This is a Safeguarding limitating policy that will not be amended, however the online bookings process will be investigated to make it easier to align. Ongoing.
8.   Hot Water – It was suggested that whilst hot and cold running water was being installed into the East Stand, could the hot water part be extended to the North and South Stands at the same time. It will be investigated.
9.   Footpaths – Concern was raised over the brambles etc. that are obstructing the approach footpaths within the stadium footprint and immediate vicinity. It will be investigated.
10.   Carrs Bar – External benches appear to need replacing and/or some TLC. It will be investigated.
11.   Carrs Bar – Following the completion of the access road to the East Stand, the road outside the West Stand will become virtually redundant, discussions have been initiated to identify how to extend Carrs Bar, either with temporary or a permanent structure outside the existing bar area. Ongoing.
12.   Buy a Brick/Stone – The Buy a Brick/Stone initiative will be publicised next week (w/c 1 Sep 24). It is anticipated that there will be three price levels/sizes, (effectively personal, group and business) although all sizes will be available to purchase by all. The location of ‘the wall/path’  is to be decided. Ongoing.
13.   Sixfields 30th Birthday Year – Suggestions are invited for activities/merchandise etc.. that would be beneficial or a ‘good idea’ in order to celebrate the event on the day and throughout the season. Suggestions on here will be consolidated and submitted.
14.   Matchday Experience – The Club are looking for matchday volunteers, either for single games or longer, to act as ‘Here to Help’ persons. Looking for passionate individuals who are confident in communicating with a range of supporters, potentially directing them around the ground and or assisting the disoriented etc.. It is intended that Wendy will advertise the request, to include a list of possible utilities. Ongoing.

That’s my interpretation of the discussions from last night’s meeting.  I will answer any queries if I am able, but I may need to seek furthest clarification if I’m unsure, so don’t shoot the messenger.
I will create a separate thread for the East Stand naming suggestions. I will also create a separate thread for suggestions for the 30th Birthday Year.

Thanks DC, much appreciated

I look forward to seeing some results in the near future but with all due respect, I won't hold my breath.

Fans Village, Hot water etc etc etc have been talked about for years. Hopefully now with the FAB, these things can't continually be swept under the carpet and lack of progress ignored

Thanks for the update guys.

Putting aside the expected negative comments. It does look like the FAB does have the potential to gain some serious traction. Nice to hear that consideration is being offered to a number of ideas.

I like the idea that some of the money raised through buy a brick will go to the FAB to enable some of what they want to do to be bale to proceed

Thing is Nigel as you know full well, the club, in the past have had no interest in even considering anything that isn't in the owners interest or agenda.

You could also then question, well TC has been much lauded in his role over the last 2 plus years, yet not one actioned changed.

But I fully support something that will bring improvements to the fans experience

May I recommend that if people are not happy with the FAB process, they become part of a group and influence matters in the appropriate manner. Historically that seems to be the general advice in these matters. Or is it one rule for one?

Just reading the announcement about the fan zone and spotted that it says there may be additional food vans there and it jogged my memory about something I was going to suggest.

I find it quite odd that the food vans are on club premises and yet I've often seen supporters standing next to the turnstiles, desperately chomping through the food they have bought from them because you aren't allowed to bring your own food into the stadium. I get that this rule is there to protect sales on the concourse, but presumably the club are benefiting financially  from the food vans being there, so why should supporters be penalised for using them?

Shouldn't this rule be reviewed?

https://www.ntfc.co.uk/news/2024/october/11/new-sixfields-fan-zone-to-be-/

Based on the attached link, there have been a number of listed suggestions and/or intentions of what will be included within the Brian Lomax Fan Zone.
Realistic and achievable additional and/or enhancements to those proposals are welcomed and if posted here, will be forwarded for consideration.

Nonsensical suggestions, not in keeping with the intention of this request, will be deleted without notice.

Personally, I do not want some hi-viz  jobsworth checking my burger, to make sure that it is locally sourced, and I am not trying to smuggle in a contraband Mcdonalds.

Well done to the club. In acknowledging the strength and depth of feeling regarding Brian. Well done to the FAB, and of course those that have suggested this previously. We are all proud of what Brian and the others involved in saving our club did.

Totally agree mate, this is fantastic.
No idea if the post from Trust man Chris Payne on Facebook is accurate about the FAB carrying out a Trust lead idea… if it was their idea then fantastic, I look fwd to the statement praising the club for doing so and hearing from Duston on here reflecting the same owners positivity!!

Great news about the fan zone. I hope loads of stones get sold and the FAB receives multiple suggestions from supporters on how to spend the money which they are then able to implement. One thing I would add is that I think it is a work of journalistic genius to write a piece in praise of Brian Lomax without mentioning the word Trust once. Use of words like supporters associations and the Supporters Direct movement skillfully skirt around the fact that Brian and others were instrumental in setting up the very first supporters trust and tremendous work was done by them and the others that followed them. I know the current Trust board has made mistakes (some very bad ones imo) but to completely rewrite the Trust from history is disingenuous at best at Stalinist at worst.

Yes I agree but symptomatic of the massive rift between the two groups - of course they will spend hours of time and copy blaming each other which achieves nothing but widening the gap. As i mentioned previously I think this is never going to be resolved between the current two parties but my concern is it will continue with subsequent owners as they will receive the interpretation of events from KT/DB and not the Trust.

This is why I wouldn't name rooms, Fanzone etc after people. Leads to these arguments.

I wouldn't disagree. I did find the wording of the club statement amusing, but it was probably unnecessary.

Where's the fan zone going? Between the little 5 a side pitch and the bouncy castle?
How about putting it squarely on the Sixfields running track behind the tiny East stand?

Oh...what's that you say, that's been relieved from the Cobblers ownership and given away to become a warehouse....

We may have the most useless unfit for purpose football ground but who else shares with a warehouse..
Do NTFC receive some chicken feed as its on their land?

So many questions,  so much smoke and mirrors...
Tom Cliffe...What is going on?
Why has the East stand shrunk,  lost its glazed screens and car park shrunk by 75%.....
Spokesman start talking!

Maybe he's not allowed to speak without official permission? This isn't the time for burying bad news under a handful of personalised bricks, The naming of a non existent fan zone or anything else being used to deflect what is appearing to be a rapidly shrinking redevelopment of an already non league standard stand.... £5.8m... carpark has shrunk 60% and now it's not even got proper windows to let light in!
No amount of fish eye lenses is going make this shameful tiny structure look any bigger.
