The FAB is not a vehicle for the Trust boards conspiratorial and long winded one way argument with the owners. I will not join them (by asking their questions) in howling at the moon. As MC has so eloquently debated. There is absolutely no evidence of impropriety. All I see is the once relevant and erudite Trust board, eroded by the current incumbents into a protracted war of attrition with the owners. Some of us have rather unwisely attempted to challenge the madness of this whole debacle from both parties.  Elements of the Trust and its cohorts feel justified in their actions. For some of them this has lost all context and perspective. Clearly their relationship with this situation is unhealthy and has started to dominate every aspect of their online presence. And for some, I’m pretty sure their lives. I believe the owners have them in the palm of their hands. A situation that never would never have happened with the Trust board I sat on. Never.

It seems to have descended into 3-4 people who write statements in isolation, reply to each others Tweets and when that doesn't happen they re post their own messages. And they call this place an echo chamber!!
Really is sad to see it come to this but no one to blame but themselves.

If you want to know what works and what doesn’t work speak to other clubs in similar locations and establish their trading figures for any proposals? I’ve seen Tranmere put up here as an example fanzone. How does their location compare, what’s their turnover/profit and comparative gate size, what products do they offer, which is the most/least successful and what did they try and discard. Are there any other clubs strategies we aspire to that we could obtain similar data from for consideration? I could go on and on (and often do). I hear loads of proposals and clubs put up as examples, but nothing in the way of data to justify why we should be motivated to follow suit. It isn’t really that hard to put forward a solid idea, but this “let’s do that then” approach is a just lazy musing with somebody else’s money.

I haven't seen any recent tweets as I'm trying to stop reading the cesspit that is X.  It's like the wild west since Musk took over.

The even stranger thing about the tweets you mention though is some of those people use multiple accounts and have even been known to reply to themselves!!!!  Honestly you couldn't make it up.   Grin Grin

RE any proposals what you really want to know is what is the average non ticket match day spend and profit per patron in each club? What do the best and worst performers do and not do? How useful would it be to have those stats when we are all arguing about what we should and shouldn’t be doing? Whilst it’s easier said than done, if I were looking at chucking a load of money at an idea that’s what I would be trying to find out.

Right and left wing nutters on my feed. And some sick ones of people dying accidently. And a lot of Japanese ones lately. And as was pointed out, only since Musk took over.

Let’s just suppose the club carries a 15 million debt to the owners. Hypothetically speaking when they leave they sell the club, the land development, and whatever for £20 million, they make £5 million.

Now let’s just suppose they have heroically given the club everything to date as a gift, all 15 million. No debt, no expectation, no nothing.

c) They make £20m from the land, wind us up and get their £15m from selling Hoskins. We'll be up to a billion before you know it and that's without the Chinese money.

I can't stand Twitter, never have. I've got an account, purely because on occasion there will be a news story where someone has said something controversial and you can't really see the context without being logged in, however I've never tweeted anything myself.

I think all the algorithms in social media are a bit weird. I'm seeing less and less from actual friends on Facebook and more from "things we think you'll like" where it will obsess about certain topics for a few months. The current one: Transformers.

Now, don't get me wrong, I loved Transformers as a kid and I've still got them stored in the loft; they were a toy that often broke or had bits lost and most of mine are intact so I kept them as a potential future sale item.

But they aren't something that I speak about on a regular basis, and yet Facebook has decided they are my thing. So I'll routinely see 4 or 5 Transformers related posts in a row, often middle aged men complaining that the latest version of Megatron isn't as good as the earlier versions!

On a loosely related note, does YouTube use algorithms linked to an account that has an Alexa in the same location?

I recently discussed subbuteo as a past time with someone who'd dropped by at my house, and the next time I logged onto YouTube to catch the Cobblers highlights I had multiple subbuteo related recommendations at the top of my page?

Being recorded by the Alexa is the only way that I think it could have been picked up.

I'm also deeply suspicious of WhatsApp.  My mate sent me a message while he was on holiday saying he'd downloaded a 30 year old Star Wars novel to his Kindle to read while he was away because he wanted to see if it was as good as he remembered (it was apparently,  it's called Heir To The Empire if anyone fancies it).

We had a brief exchange about how that should have been used as the basis of the sequel trilogy rather than the dogs*** we got.

The next day, what pops up on Facebook? An Amazon ad for this very novel. A 30 year old and fairly obscure book just happens to appear in an ad the day after a conversation about it?  End to end encryption my arse!

Regarding Facebook, I use it for the different specialist groups that are available, and dont bother with friending anybody. We can chat on the phone, or down the pub.
FB keeps sending me friend recommendations which I ignore, but the latest one was the daughter of one of my exes from about 30 years ago. I have never even met the child, but she certainly has her mothers scowl. I have never searched for either of them, how did it know?
With regard to Alexa, why the fcuk would you want something in your house, that listens to your every word, whilst waiting for its trigger? It would be even worse if you had a talking parrot as well.

Hello Daniel, does your lass not provide that service? With a casual click of the fingers, lights off, and smoking jacket with slippers issued?
Give it a try mate, she will soon get bored with throwing things at you!
