I thought that was an awful game, the number of times our defenders either passed the ball to a PV player or whacked it against a PV player was alarming. Our passing was just as bad up front as well. Luckily though Port Vale were not good enough to take advantage and we ran out 2-0 winners with a goal from McWiiliams that Pinnock  called the goal of the season.

I still think Vale have a chance of staying up as all the bottom 5 teams lost and Burton look very likely to go down as now as they have played more games than anyone else and can only make 55 points if they win every game - they can't catch us now either.

Good to see AK back on the pitch but JB said it doesn't look good for Moore as he has damaged his shoulder.

Reading fans were saying that he had a problem with his shoulder regularly dislocating.

He got into a bit of a tussle with their number 9. You could see he has hurt his shoulder immediately.

A routine win without needing to be near our best, plain to see why Vale are in the bottom 4. Fine ball from Bowie to set Pinnock through and a good finish. Could not see Vale scoring unless from our mistake and we tried to give them a helping hand with some sloppy passing, 2 from Moore in the first half. They had a bit of pressure in the second half because when we were clearing their attacks we were not finding a man and the ball came back at us. Good attempt by Leonard to beat the keeper from just inside their half.
Having seen comments about their young prospect Dipepa I was looking forward to seeing him but the lad did very little and did not look ready for div.1 football.

Surprisingly comfortable win...

Moore probably now out for the season as Brady said post match "it doesn't look good"

He's done a steady job but nothing spectacular to earn a new contract imo...

We simply can't keep signing crocks...

Hopefully, the recruitment team are now actively looking for robust signings, now we know what division we'll be in...

You obviously can't prevent injuries but you can certainly see by a players previous injury record if they are more prone to breaking down than others.

I have been banging that drum for a few days now. We already have one injury prone ex championship defender in sick bay, we do not require, or have room for another. Sowerby has shown that he can cover for the last few games.

Hopefully Vale will now be relegated, good riddance to bin-dipper fans with a speech impediment.

Probably doesn’t realise they come from Stoke on Trent! After all he thought Tranmere was in Liverpool 😂

Did you see the match stats on the BBC?

Stats don’t always tell the full story.

Just thought player for player we looked better. Considering they’re fighting for their lives, there was not much fight.

Pretty even stats.
Chelsea and Brentford had 30 odd shots in their draws.

They don’t always show the true nature of the game or result.

I did not think it was a bad or poor game. Thought that Burge played well and added a degree of confidence and stability to the defense. Moore was a liability at times but Monthe was a pretty good replacement at half time. For me Guthrie was  a potential MOM even though some of his passing was off queue a few times. Leonard also did well as he foiled many of Vales attacks. Brady was very chuffed with the result and more than pleased that his apparent points target of 54 points had been achieved and over achieved by Jove!
Certainly the team's overall defensive display put to bed that cringing criticism that they are 'on the beach'. The crowd celebrated the 2nd goal  with unbridled enthusiasm - no 'Meh' mentality from them so good day out for me!

Bit harsh on Tranmere as they are in the Wirral - my mother came from Hoylake and along with Cowdenbeath and Tranmere she always looked out for their results.

Yeah, it was one of the most comfortable wins of the season and Vale didn't really offer anything of note.
