I’ve really really watched Appere closely in this game and whilst he undoubtedly tries hard every facet of his game is sub-standard. Control, heading, tackling, pace with the ball and shooting. I wish he was better cos he seems a genuinely nice bloke but if he’s still here next season then that would signal a relegation fight in my opinion.

Let me make one thing absolutely clear, the Trust “advisor” is not god. Are you going to tell him or shall I?

Scunny pulled in nearly 8000 for their penalty shootout defeat to Boston in the NLN Playoff semi final.
Another season in the national league north for them then, that is a shame!

I hate Scunny for an away day, not a very nice place to go to, I dont miss them at all. On the other hand, I really enjoyed my couple of trips to Boston, its a better part of Lincolnshire.

Yep.. We could. And I’m sure unless you’ve been on the moon for the last 9 years you already know the answer. Especially as the chairman’s response to that question is posted in the correct thread…

Evers at his best with no edge at all. Marcus Aurelius would not be impressed with such obvious sycophancy.

Our last minute goal means our 'friends' down the Nene, now have to play Oxford (and not Barnsley) in the play offs. A much tougher challenge I reckon...

I agree with you but he wasn't the only one giving the ball away like confetti at a wedding! In the last 25 minutes of the game we were dominating possession but I was losing my composure in sheer frustration - with the lot of them. Then it changed in a twinkling of an eye, a flicked headed pass in a crowded penalty area and dear old Appere was onto it in a flash executing a perfect volley into the back of the net. All the gallant 1200, rose as one celebrating the goal with a touch of emphatic hysteria. No matter if it secured a dead rubber result but the strength of the jubilation was as if we had won the FA Cup and promotion all in one. More important the faithful 1200 went home happy chanting their endless victory paean you could hear them nearly a mile away. For that goal which secured the magical 60 point mark; the insane even lunatic 1200 went home happy. For that moment alone he deserves a contract renewal. Finally I saw one of our master statisticians triumphantly raising his arms shouting 60points..... 60points I tell you playing the Cobblers way.

In your opinion of course - just because the great one rattled your cage!

Enjoyed the trip there! Have to say, the people in barnsley are very welcoming, and are a joy to talk to. I really hope they do it in the play-off but, honestly, I can't see it happening. Both teams were very poor.
Why did some barnsley fans run on the pitch and start goading the away fans though? Bit strange.

He was conscious and speaking to paramedics as we came out at the end. Just a couple of rows behind us.

The funniest was the very young lad, gave the finger to a steward and soon slipped over to be caught. Some parent somewhere must be very proud.

You are the 2nd person to say this, and I feel I need to point it out again. By saying if he's still here next season we will be in a relegation fight, would imply that we were in a relegation fight this season. Because he played in 37 games this season. It's such a narrow opinion, there are so many more variables. I like him, he's playing fairly regularly in our best team since 2008, working well in a solid front 3 alongside Bowie, Hoskins, Pinnock etc. He's 25 now, coming into what will hopefully be his best years, and I think he gets a new contract.

My son-in-law went to help. He said the supporter was unconscious when he got to him and in danger of swallowing his tongue, he prevented this until the paramedics eventually arrived. When we left the chap was sitting up and talking.

It was largely a low quality game several times we played the ball forward and it went straight through to Roberts and several times we were again guilty of loose passes. But a high quality finish from Appere won us a point which could and should have been a 1-0 win, perhaps he would have a better goals tally if he was feeding off knock downs from a big strike partner. His goal finished the season on a high note and sent the away support of 1222 (an impressive 20% of our average home support for a dead rubber game) home happy. With so many "lunatics" perhaps the town needs a bigger asylum.

Didn't see yesterday's game, but I tend to agree he's worth a new contract. I do think, however, that his role will be more as a useful squad player rather than a starter. He blows hot and cold, but he's more than just a willing runner. Most of the time his ball control is outstanding (as good as anyone at the club, I would say). He's also skillful and capable of passes and touches others don't see. His finishing isn't bad, but he's rarely in the kind of positions an out-and-out striker needs to be in to put chances away. That's one of his failings IMO, together of course, with his non-existent heading ability.

In his defence he was in the right place in the 96th minute - a sort off 'cometh the hour cometh the man'. Any decent Espanol players worth signing?
