I have the same problem, trying to explain the merits of WWE to people. But then nobody ever listens to a middle aged bloke wearing a ripped Goldberg Tshirt.  I guess your spangly gear and feather boa has the same effect?

I would suggest that a feather boa and spangly gear would be more aligned to WWF than Eurovision.

Don't even mention the baby oil...

I think Jonathan Pie’s rant sums this one up -

To paraphrase

17 million of you twats voted for something where you didn’t understand any of the many negative outcomes
16 million of you twats voted to stay in a controlling right wing organisation where the very few benefited from the very many
……& the rest of you lazy twat clearly don’t believe in democracy by failing to vote
Go and educate yourself, you seem to be ill educated in many areas, here’s Manny’s first lesson….

https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/democracy

I’m not expecting too much from you but let me know how you get on ?

If you go around saying it's sh!t, then I'm afraid you just don't get it.
It's always pretty sh!t but it's not to be taken seriously
However this year there were too many earnest ballads and not enough of this...

Whether I get it or not and whether it's always pretty shìt or not, as a "song contest" it's completely irrelevant.
Does anyone actually think that the winning song is the best song in Europe? Pointless drivel.

Perplexed actually

…..I think you have either struggled to actually read what was written or completely missed the point but I’m still curious what the Cambridge dictionary’s definition of democracy has to do with anything?

…..but I still feel a need to help an old adversary here - the whole point of the missive was the futility of the voting system but I suspect like many Brexiters, you are a sore winner and only read the first line and reacted accordingly.

To further clarify I think the Brexit decision was terrible but the leave campaign fought a much more effective campaign and won a democratic vote which we should adhere to and make the best of - somewhat like the East Stand!

My Lithuanian painters did. And would not be told that was a gay event, despite me pointing out who the presenters were. I guess that they didnt get it either. Although overhearing some of the "music" that they listened to on Radio Babushka, that comes as no surprise.

Not really sure what's to "get". Why call it "The Eurovision Song Contest"? Why not just rename it "European Carnival of Flamboyance" or similar as it's certainly not a contest to find the best song in Europe.

I am glad you’ve seen the error of your ways now, Stammer has sold the country down the river, Brexit was a great idea, but like so many projects the execution was dire to say the least.

that's what Labour are trying to put right isn't it?

I respect the result, but the World is very different to what it was in 2016 FACT

So, here is a simple binary questions regarding your thoughts on what you consider a great idea - would despots around the world, particularly our nearest, Putin, prefer a united or a fractured Europe?

Labour have been taken for a ride by the EU, giving up fishing rights etc paying back into the EU with absolutely no say in policy.

Indeed we need Farage back as MEP championing the UK Fishing rights - like he did when on said committee.......

You also will of course be aware this deal is very similar to the one proposed by Johnson in 2020 and supported by both the conservatives and indeed Farage

Starmer has absolutely none of those attributes and he made it via a protest vote.

Saying you don't 'get' something suggests that there is at least some element of complexity. There could be nothing less complex than the song context, apart from some of the voting mechanics.
I actually preferred the documentary and think Will Ferrell would have a good chance of winning.  Tongue
