Not unless we increase the capacity to Championship level; 12-15000 for starters. We're already getting somewhere near capacity so promotion to the Championship ain't going to make a lot of difference to attendances.

You have an impressive agenda on increasing ground capacity. It seems an important theme with you. It is easy to hope that a decent increase in capacity will eventually happen.  In my opinion I prefer to see a good side produced first. Generally good sides attract more support and is probably the best catalyst to ignite meaningful support for increasing capacity. As for the away stand I would not overdo the hospitality side of things or even increase capacity of  the South Stand by more than a few hundred.  Would not give a seat in the East Stand to away support either should the away stand capacity be increased!

I was simply giving a response to a poster who said we'd get bigger crowds with promotion to the championship, which obviously can't happen with the ground as it is now. No agenda, just a desire for a bigger ground like most people on here.
As for extending the ground when we have a good side. Well we've had a good side quite a few times since we've been at Sixfields and several times before, the 1960's springs to mind and the capacity is still the same as it was when Sixfields was built, 30 years ago.

Fair comment. Timing is the key in conjunction with improved team development/performance. We certainly missed a trick when we did not capitalise on the new ground when in the now Championship. I believe that under current Manager we will have a team capable of challenging for the Championship; in some respects it resembles the early Bowen years. Hope is integral to my way of thinking and have found it essential to retain a positive attitude to most situations! Itís a must over the decades in supporting the Cobblers!

Genuine question... which clubs / owners do you look at and think "if only we had them..."
For almost 20 years NTFC has been a closed shop, it's only 'up for sale ' if perspective owners pay a ridiculous amount for the club only but not the land adjoining the ground as that's no longer part of NTFC .

Soon the land will all be gone and the club will change hands for the £1 it's worth...Let's hope it's in a position quickly to recover and plans can be put in place to enable ntfc to expand the ground in order to trade correctly.
The shamefully wasted £5.800.000 on just 10 boxes and 100 seats squeezed in a tiny not fit for purpose stand will be seen as a lost opportunity.
Allowing those who have no interests in ntfc or it future to make these big decisions is laughable...  Grin

Things are not looking good.

When I first supported the cobblers I remember the club shop seemingly in a random back room in a terrace house. The main stand was soon replaced by the tiny meccano stand after the Bradford fire and the pitch was the car park for the cricket team over the summer as their tenants in a shambles of a three sided ground with a part condemned away end!.

After leaving there and moving to a council built and owned stadium, they decided to let us have the ground on a hundred year lease as they didnít want the expense of maintaining it. Cardoza and the council then got involved in dodgy dealings that resulted in the loss of a lot of public funds, a half built stand and the near demise on the club. The new owners then struck a deal with the council to try and bring a conclusion to the sorry story of the previous redevelopment.

Iím sure thereís a probably quite a few errors as this is all from a fading memory but I donít think the club has been wronged, actually in light of where we were when I started support the club and what has happened since, an 8,000 ground with corporate boxes is ok. Maybe we could have had better and opportunities were missed but I actually feel the club has been lucky with the outcome over a long and torturous process.

Thanks for the reply but not what I asked. In a hypothetical world where you could chose your owners and they get the club for £1, who in the 92 (or non league) would you say "them please".

Reading between the lines, I can see you appreciate my differing views and only wish Cardoza/Thomas had the same..
But alas poor t-cobb, they haven't as for them its all about land and its riches not promoting the football club of Northampton. So we've made our division 4 bed  that we'll be sleeping in for the next 20 years of mediocrity.

Not sure what lines you are reading between to reach that conclusion?

We'll be sleeping there, but you won't of course as all your time will be spent at your new club, Utopia Utd.

That reminded me of the saying of the old lady pi55ing in the sea saying every little helps...
Those 10 boxes and 100 seats is our drop in the ocean but costing an astronomical £5,800.000 which was enough to give us a 10 000 capacity stadium and the East stand kitted out...
Stop making excuses for these clowns, they've sucked you and many others in, now start owning it.

Beds are you back again ? You really don't need to keep coming and seeing how we're doing, we are fine. It's not fair you spend so much time here when you've this new Club to build. I notice you keep saying "We" "We'll" , can't be in relationship to our Club as you don't support NTFC, can only assume you're expecting your new Club to be lower League for a fair few years. As I say please don't waste anymore of your precious time on us when you have so much to do.

All 92 football league clubs are ownedmkst have very good chairman that want the best for their clubs and strive for them to be in a position to trade correctly and grow to become the best club they can..
And a few don't.

Any of the former would be a breath of fresh air after the awful past 20 years at ntfc where we've fallen so far behind all our rivals.

It it me, or should it be a concern for those involved that the main protagonist for this new club seems to be of limited ability and wavering loyalty. Not the best of starts.

Iím sure the lawyers are the ones who will probably make out best in this long drawn out process and the taxpayers of Northampton are the ones to be screwed. As I said when I started watching the club they were tenants of a 3 sided s***hole, so even if things maybe could have turned out better depending on many factors Iím not going to lose my sh1t with the potential outcome.
