How are the Scotish fans feeling after taking the p1ss out of England by singing about Maradona, then being denied a penalty( rightly) by an Argentine referee, the irony. It is true poetic justice.

Last note on Scotland, Flower of Scotland a song about the defeat of the English army of Edward in 1314 at the Battle of Bannockburn, a rousing song to be proud of defeating an enemy An English song about defeating the Airforce of Adolf Hilter in 1940 in the Battle of Britain , is a racist song that everybody should be ashamed off. I suppose my point is, when does a song stop being patriotic and becomes racist and when does a song stop being racist and becomes patriotic ?

This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.

Did you just compare 'Flower of Scotland' to 'Ten German bombers'? It might be that the latter is often depicted by showing skinhead racists chanting it and that the lyrics are a tad less subtle.

Not so much the songs as the meaning behind them. Both songs are singing about defeating an enemy of their Country in Battle, some people have defined one of them as being racist. You have said its because the English who sing it are racist rather than the song ?

Sorry, I thought you were alluding that the songs were equal. In answer to your original question, I'd say somewhere between the two. I wouldn't call either racist, more about poor taste.

Agreed, needless moronic behaviour like the booing of opposition national anthems, just embarrassing.
