Both ourselves and Lincoln appear to have September 17th free (the 10th has International games being played). Lincoln can't do the 24th September and there are League One matches the Tuesday after that (October 1st).

17th makes far too much sense for it to be chosen then

The amount of league 1 games postponed for international games surely it's time to not schedule them to start with

I'd prefer far fewer international games but I get your point. Six League One games postponed and only four being played on the Saturday. It's a mess.

How did Lincoln v Northampton and Wycombe v Mansfield end up postponed yet Wrexham, Charlton, Rotherham and Barnsley, generally seen as "bigger" clubs in our league who you'd expect to have more "internationals" in their ranks weren't?
Clearly too easy to allow the postponement for a couple of players.

Who are our 'internationals'?

Big debate on the Lincoln board as to who the internationals were....
Turns out they were Sean Roughan who played for Republic of Ireland U21's, JJ McIernan who played for Northern Irelands U21's and Dylan Duffy who was on standby for ROI U21's too.
We of course have Will Hondermarck who was called up to the Congo squad.

After watching yesterday's game, you would have thought a standby for RoI U21s would be a bloke down the pub with his boots in the car.

So its a rearranged Tuesday night fixture as The Cobblers travel to the City of Lincoln to face the Imps. Some 89 miles between the two grounds, one of our shorter trips of the season.
After todays games Lincoln find themselves sitting in 8th place in the table having won half of their 12 games so far. After back to back defeats to Birmingham and Crawley they came back to win at home to Stockport today. They have also registered home league wins over Mansfield and Leyton Orient whilst Barnsley and Birmingham have left Sincil Bank with the three points. Lincoln have also been beaten at home by Harrogate in the Carabao Cup and by Chesterfield in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.
Lincoln have spent most of their existence in the lower leagues, last playing second tier football back in 1961. Alongside that they have been relegated to the Conference twice, and have obviously come back up twice too! The Imps were the first team to be automatically relegated to non-league in 1986/87 losing out on goal difference to Torquay United and being replaced by Scarborough. It was only a one year foray though as they bounced straight back up at Newport's expense the following season. 2011 saw their second relegation, this time they spent six seasons before winning the title in 2017. This was followed in 2019 by the League 2 title and promotion to League 1 where they have been since. They made the playoff final in 2021, falling to Blackpool after having beaten Sunderland over two legs in the semi, and last season a late run which included 17 unbeaten saw them narrowly miss out and eventually finish a place and two points behind Barnsley in the last playoff spot.
Michael Skubala is in his first club management role, having taken over from Mark Kennedy last November. The former England Futsal head coach and Leeds United U-21 manager has recorded 21 wins from 46 games in charge at Sincil Bank.
The Imps have not been scoring a ton of goals, Ben House is their leading scorer with four in the league. He had a decent spell at Eastleigh prior to his move to Lincoln. Also amongst the goals is Bailey Cadamarteri, son of former Everton striker Danny. Bailey is just 19 and is on loan from Sheffield Wednesday, he's scored four in all competitions including three in his last four games. Freddie Draper is a forward option off the bench usually, he scored 10 in 21 during a loan spell at Walsall last season. Probably lining up in midfield will be the experienced Tendayi Darikwa who had a spell with Nottingham Forest before two years with Wigan and a year in Cyprus playing for Apollo Limassol.
Our head to head with these sees both sides with 16 wins but a disproportionately high 26 draws. We claimed a 2-1 win at Lincoln last season, that was our first win in seven games against City. Jon Guthrie and Kieron Bowie goals saw us home in front of a crowd of 8,661. The game earlier last season at Sixfields saw us score twice in the last four minutes through Appere and Hoskins as we salvaged a 2-2 draw. There have been some high scoring encounters at Sincil Bank, we lost 4-3 there in 1993 where the late Martin Aldridge was amongst our scorers. In 1977 we lost 5-4 there in a 3rd Division game, and we won't dwell too much on the 8-0 humbling we got in 1980 down in Division 4.
Sam Purkiss is scheduled to be the man in the middle, he took charge of the Charlton v Wrexham game today and dished out 7 yellow cards. Its 46 of those now alongside a red in his 9 games this season. He does like a red card or two and a look back at former Cobblers games brings up quite a few! He sent off Van Veen for Scuunthorpe against us in 2020, sent off Joe Martin for us in 2021 at Bristol Rovers, Carl Piergianni for Oldham against us in 2022, and Tom McIntyre for Portsmouth against us earlier this year! He's avoided the Imps since their game at Accrington in February 2023 where, you've guessed it, he showed a red card in that one too sending off Accrington's Harry Perritt.

We may well be getting a change of ref then, as Mr Purkiss went off injured at Charlton.

So this game completes a run of fixtures where Crawley, Lincoln and us play each other in 8 days. Last Tuesday Crawley beat Lincoln 3-0, yesterday we beat Crawley 3-0 so logic should probably suggest we beat Lincoln but the way football is Lincoln probably beat us 3-0. Having said that I’d take a draw.

All depends on what team JB plays, he needs to start with the team that started Saturday.

We were 3 goals better than Crawley who were 3 goals better than Lincoln so minimum is 6-0 surely.

Seems plausible to me. On a separate note, thanks for the preview GPC.
