Doesn't score, so what's the point of him?

I would still like to see him given a few games alongside Eaves with Fosu on the right .

Likewise, they might be a formidable and productive trio...

You might be the odd one out in Pattishall but you sometimes have a novice footballer out look on team selection?

Same. Roberts seems wasted that far up the pitch - he has so much quality to his game.

He's a quality player playing in a team of average players and to me it's no surprise it doesn't work out - I do think however playing alongside Eaves, who has strength, determination, an eye for goal and reasonable pace for a big guy could change Robert's contribution (if he is not recalled in January!).

I think the link man is quite obvious but unfortunately we have had to play him out of position as our main striker.

"We've had to play him out of position"..... have we? Really? It seems to have been more of a choice to do so than a necessity. Last five League games.... Wigan: Started Roberts as the lone striker and had Eaves and Waghorn (and Hoskins) on the bench Cambridge: Started Roberts as the lone striker and had Eaves and Waghorn (and Fosu) on the bench Blackpool: Started Roberts as the lone striker and had Wilson and Waghorn (and Fosu) on the bench Birmingham: Roberts was suspended so we had Hoskins as the lone striker with Waghorn and Dobson on the bench Lincoln: Started Roberts as the lone striker with Eaves and Dobson on the bench. Whilst it is true that some of the other options were not 100% fit, coming back from injury or lacked experience, I don't believe we absolutely HAD to play Roberts as the main striker. We could have played him up front alongside A N Other as some have said, or we could have at least started one of the others up front and had Roberts providing that "link"..... but we chose to do neither.

It’s a decision made by the management, I have more faith in them than people posting on here

It’s the Manager’s decision especially when you appear to be touting 34 yr old Waghorn as a striker. Seems to me you ignore the injury crisis at your peril!

In defence Roberts. For me he is playing out of position upfront seemingly out of necessity!

Of the options available to JB I think he had little choice other than starting Roberts as our main striker. Of the other options Hoskins and Fosu are not out and out strikers so playing either and again they are out of their natural positions, the same could be said of Wilson. I doubt that he was ever considering starting Neo up top on his own as we are playing 4231 at present. That leaves Waghorn who hadn’t kick a ball for 7 weeks before he joined us and still appears to not be up to speed and so far has had minimal minutes. Eaves obviously coming back from injury and JB admitted the Cambridge game was a bit too soon when he got a few minutes so he was never going to start against Wigan but having had 45 minutes I think he could well start against Stevenage and get 60-70 minutes. So starting Roberts up top was a better option than the alternatives some of which JB would have been criticised for when they failed as playing McCarron up top against Kettering did. We have the same situation in defence when on Tuesday McGowan had to play nearly all of the game instead of being eased back into action and he may have to start at Stevenage.

Some attacking players don’t need to score. Frankly I never gave a shít if Martin Smith scored or not, and dropping him if he didn’t would’ve been unthinkable.

Exactly. But let’s not let facts get in the way of a good story from Richards.

Waghorn has been with us for the same equivalent as a ‘pre season’. Can we now assume he’s match fit?
