Let’s not let facts get in the way of a good story please.

They fielded their first 11, we played our academy and got humped. That’s the line Jon has given us so let’s roll with it.

Please consider listening to JB nterview again! Brady said Burton picked a near full strength side and won convincingly. Furthermore he added that some of the oppo team had EFL EXPERIENCE. Burton on the day were clearly the better side and performed pretty well against an inexperienced Cobblers team! Also JB said they had no EFL game on coming Sat so they picked a side which contained quite a few first team players!

778 is a good turnout for a youth game!😯

Surely the club makes a loss opening the stadium for 778 fans? No wonder they tried to only turn half the lights on.

Well, was present at the game tonight but it was very much men against boys and senior men at that. Burton clearly fielded a side which seemed to jeopardise to spirit of the competition. Speaking to some of their supporters it was mostly first teamers. 3 or 4 Burton players looked useful against 8 academy players. Waghorn played and actually scored with a brave header!
For all those who bravely decided to give the game a miss as it was a pointless competition. You all know were to stick your views;it gives us a chance to get to Wembley plus generous financial rewards for progressing in the competition! The attitude of some so called supporters is of a poor standard!
Contradiction in terms there Evers. You state that Burton played a senior mens team, which jeopardised the spirit of the competition. But then state that it gives teams a chance to get to Wembley. Newsflash matey, to get to a cup final to tend to need your strongest team.

If a side got to Wembley they would hardly play 7 or 8 academy players? Unless of course they were the equivalent of the Busby babes!
Also there are financial incentives which you deemed unworthy of comment!

If I was a young man who played in all the Trophy games up until the final, then was dropped at Wembley to allow senior players to play, I'd be pretty miffed. Just saying.

You'd think a team would follow the same approach if they made the final. e.g. the back up keeper wouldn't get benched etc.
We recently saw how the Liverpool B team won the League cup.

I guess we wouldn't field such a heavily weighted youth team if most of the squad weren't out injured. Dobbie would have to be up front though!

Youre the one that said playing a senior mens team, was against the spirit of the competition, and you are now advocating it for later rounds. Cant have it both ways mate.

Oh yes he can. It is Everbrite after all.

Congratulations to Aston Villa by the way. I believe they were the only U21 side to make it through to the next round.

In his defence, he has picked up the "knock of the week" award recently, so he has some catching up to do. Its nice to have the curmudgeonly old git back though. I missed him.  Grin

Swings and roundabouts I guess. The Club gets a £20,000 participation fee just for playing in the tournament and earned £10,000 for each of the two wins previously. We made a bit from the previous games and lost a bit on this one.
£20000 on the line for a win in the next round.

Just wondering if it would be financially beneficial to play the next game away and thus lose by 2 clear goals last night.

It probably was but don't think that was a part of JB's game plan.  Grin

Just to make it clear have no wish to challenge your interpretation of what I said or wrote. Unfortunately I know you too well and you are clearly capable of a few irrational actions on here  - IMO of course.

Does anyone know anything about the next round of this competition? For example when the draw is and when the games are likely to be played.

The draw is tomorrow live on Sky Sports. We will be away to Wycombe, Peterborough, Charlton or Walsall. Games to take place during w/c 9th December but ours won't be as we are live on Sky against Peterborough on Monday 9th.

Peterborough on the 9th and then Peterborough on the 11th?
