Why are so many of our players susceptible to injuries. Is it down to how they are being trained or is it the gegen-press style of play which makes the players more prone to picking up injuries? Thoughts please

We sign a lot of injury prone players with a history of injuries could be part of it.🤔

An injury every 1.7 games is supposedly the EFL average, and apparently we were below average last season. Perhaps arguing to fix something that’s not broken?

It's an issue with every club. It's affected Man City too, who you would imagine have the best of everything.

Simply put, the intensity of games and training is constantly increasing which increases the chance of injury. Clubs are also much more careful with players now as they are more of a commodity.

Thank goodness for that. I'd have to take it personally otherwise, not that I could hold a grudge against Comrade Manny, he's a loveable rogue.

Or the grass is different.

The grass is different to years ago, also the surfaces are firmer, some are sand based some have plastic strands woven into them. This sometimes causes boot studs to stick in the surface causing twisting of knees and ankle joints, straining ligaments.

So the pitches do not wear as quickly but the players are soon knackered!

.

It's only happened to City this season, they haven't consistently had 10/12 players out every week for the past 4 seasons.

We don't seem to be able to get into single figures.

Don't want to go all "Jumpers For Goalposts" but what has happened to muddy pitches?

Check out the data.

What medical paper are you citing. Is it one written by Professor Matt Le Tissier during a break from flogging cannabis oil on twitter by any chance.
