So who do you rate as having the best business class?
For me it would be a toss up between Singapore and Emirates.

I‘m a big fan of virgin- perhaps not the most luxurious but always fun - the absolute worse are Air India

Garuda Indonesia first class was excellent, but when we landed at Gatwick the pilot decided to turn the wrong way on the taxi way and was made to do an almost full circuit of the place before we got to the finger.
Internal flights on Indonesia were and experience to say the least. On the approach to Surabaya the pilot announced we were going to start our decent and promptly sticks it into a nose dive like an effing Stuka dive bomber. Found out later that on internal flights they were using mainly ex airforce pilots who hadn't quite worked out that shedding height and speed on a civilian aircraft was a bit different to that of a military plane.

No, CrabAir are good compared to some of those I've been in.
My first EVER flight was as an 18 year old, nine hours in the back of a C130 Hercules to The Gambia.
80+ of us flying in the back of a flying furniture van, in canvas seats, with no windows and a 'chemical' bucket surrounded by a shower curtain for the toilet.
Over the years, I grew to love flying in Hercs... often flying for days on end in them.  Wink

VC10's were quite luxurious, 24 hours to Singapore in 1969, ice cold coke in Bahrain and breakfast on Gan atoll in the Maldives, the first time I saw yellow tomatoes. Stepping off the VC10 into the tropical heat of a Singapore evening was a shocker. Waking up the following morning in a room with a ceiling fan and palm trees outside was amazing........... Best years of my childhood C/O the RAF  Smiley

Indeed they were, and sweets were given out prior to takeoff and landing to assist with pressure changes in the ears

I've just booked 4 nights in Riga, Latvia in March. To coincide with our sons Spanish Exchange trip. Might be a bit cold but ticks orf a new greynd (country) for us.

Was dithering over going somewhere 'hot' for a week, going a bit silly and booking Dubai, looked at a couple of places in the US of A...but thought a random trip to a country we've not been too which is cheap as chips (relative) was the correct choice. Given we've got some big bloody bills to pay early next year!  Grin

Any travel suggestions/tips most welcome!

I love Dubai it’s a bit of a marmite destination, absolutely no culture, but great restaurants, hotels, beaches and shopping.
Australia is awesome if you’ve never been, the flight is an absolute killer, I worked on the commonwealth games in Gold Coast, that part of the world is next level, up to Cairns and do the Barrier Rief scuba, bucket list stuff.

I loved Riga although it isn't very big. Four nights might be pushing things a bit that time of year! Be sure to buy a Latvia scarf like I did... claret and white, not made it to a game yet.
Lot of street food type eateries in Galerija Centrs shopping centre in the old town. I was having a pizza in there when Mitch silenced St Andrews last year
