As we are only just over 24 hours away from tomorrows game we had better get a thread started. Historically our clashes have been quite even as we have 22 wins, they have 24 and there has been 11 draws. Our record at Shrewsbury is not great as we have 7 wins to their 19 and only 3 games have finished as draws.
As most will know Shrewsbury recently installed Ainsworth as manager and there has been an improvement in results. Before his arrival they had taken only 8 points from 15 games but in his 6 games they have taken 7 points and scored in every game. In his first game they surprisingly beat Birmingham 3-2, lost the next 3 Blackpool at home 1-2, Cambridge away 1-4 and Wycombe at home 1-4. They have since taken a point in an 2-2 draw at Wigan and beat Lincoln 1-0 last time out.
It is a game between 2 of the worst defences in the division, we have conceded 38 goals and they have conceded 41, but does either team have the attack to take advantage of this as both are scoring at a goal a game. At home they have won 3, drawn 1 and lost 7 scoring 11 and conceding 20. They have scored 2 goals or more 5 times (we have 6) and failed to score 10 times (we have 7), They have conceded 2 goals or more in 14 of their 21 games (we have 11) and kept only 2 clean sheets (we have 5).
They have 2 of our former players in Aaron Pierre and John Marquis who is their leading scorer with 4 goals ( 5 in all comps.) and George Lloyd also has 4.
Our referee is Sebastian Stockbridge and he has an interesting history handling our games mas in his career he has refereed us 14 times and only produced 24 yellow cards and no reds.
KN has already said he does not expect to have any of the injured players available so the bench will be weak again and like Twiggy we will not have much up top. It will be interesting to see if he makes any changes to the starting 11 or to the formation but something has to change defensively because we have previously defended better with 10 men than we are currently with 11. As can be seen by Shrewsbury's defensive record if we can create opportunities we can capitalise and defensively they have not improved under Ainsworth as in his 6 games they have shipped in 14 goals. They did keep a clean sheet on Boxing Day when they beat Lincoln 1-0 in a game they only had 29.9% possession but they have not won back to back games in the last 2 years.

If we're using the same players as the last two games it's difficult to see anything different happening but here's hoping.
Good luck Kevin.

These next 3 games offer an excellent opportunity, Shrewsbury and Burton have fewer home points than any teams in the division and only 2 teams have fewer away points than Stevenage. We really could do with winning 2 of the 3 games.

Had no intention of going after making the effort to go to Reading on Boxing day but we've changed our plans around so its either go to Shrewsbury or rattle around the house. I've done enough rattling around this last week so Im off to watch another almost certain defeat!
In terms of changing the team around, what can he do? I guess if it was me Id stick Willis in the midfield to at least give it some bite in place of Honders or Chouchane with the emphasis on keeping a clean sheet and nicking a goal if we can. We simply cannot start with the midfield trio that we did the other day!
With none of the 14 sick notes looking like they are coming back anytime soon it really is difficult to see beyond 2 defeats before the window reopens and we can get down to some business to strengthen and freshen things up a bit.
It does feel like we need a massive slice of luck - a red card/penalty incident in our favour after 10 minutes would be most helpful and welcome!

Stick Baldwin in midfield rather than Willis, as he's played there before... absolute shambolic situation though as the midfielders we do have fit, should be capable of doing their actual jobs! After the last 3 "performances" I'd be amazed if we get anything tomorrow unfortunately, Ainsworth will have them right up for this... Whereas big Kev is working with a bunch of mostly uninterested players... Hope they actually turn up tomorrow... Roll on Jan!

2-0
When it was 3-0 at Reading, I was thinking of your prediction...

Yeah, I'd take a point at this juncture, just to get the ball rolling. Trouble is we concede plenty and don't score, not a good combination. I'll be up to watch this, saw the Saints win 61-0 this morning so maybe that's a good omen?

Managers like Bowen and Wilder* are rare to come by! Whether we like it or not Jon Brady is the only recent Manager who can possibly follow in their* footstops!
We should stick with him, as at the moment he is our only hope of survival as a EFL Club!
