That’s the chairman for you, couldn’t be aršed to meet him face to face and it turns out he’s never been to Sixfields, all very odd.
Unless of course he was in Moulton at the training ground, where the players were as it wasn't a match day. Not really very odd at all.

I think the club should release a statement explaining why KN hasn’t been to Sixfields and who exactly interviewed him and how the process was conducted 😂

Some amusing comments on this thread. Brilliant how Shrewsbury away has become a discussion of how to conduct job interviews

Well fućk me if I had known you were a football manger I’d have led a one man campaign to see you in the Cobblers hot seat, you could have done it pretending to be in Melbourne as well.
Another one! Come on Comrade, find some friends, things are better together. At least you have got the Common Sense Coalition to find some comradeship and togetherness.

Apologies for posting back on topic, but just in case we end up in the same division as Shrewsbury next season, a big shout out for a quality pub called the Prince of Wales on a back street of a quiet residential area that you wouldn't come across by chance. The beer was excellent, both choice and quality (also a GBG pub of many years), reasonable price pre-match food, plenty of room outside if it's appropriate weather /time of year and best of all, they run a coach to the stadium that drops off right outside the away end. A bloke comes around to sell you a ticket £2 each way, then they have one departure at 14.15 and another at 14.30. Return to the pub after the game, got out of the car park relatively quickly. Great idea I thought.

Maybe the hoof all tactical ploy was to avoid our midfield, hondermark looked like a rabbit in headlights and cochane could barely find a teammate, I'm sure this will improve once bodies return. Brady style was effective but hardly ever exciting.
I didn't think we hoofed the ball execessively in Sundays Game but when we did it seemed to pay off. Regarding Hondermark, it seems that he brings something to the team. On his day he can take the game to the opposition which maybe important to a side manifestily lacking in confidence! I also thought that Cochane had a more effective game too! I realize of course your views on Jon Brady don't fit in with the general opinion on here ( with JB), so you must have an opinion on the former Manager?

What you're failing to see Shane is that had we gambled with those extra quality signings and just missed out or even lost in the play-offs, those players would still be with us now for this season. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but nobody is going to tell me that holding off until the Summer has proven to be a success.
I totally get where you are coming from John. How I see it. And I don't consider it to be lacking of ambition... We chuck some £ at it, on the basis that the 10/1 - or 8/1 - or 12/1 shot - that it didn't come off. We then head into the following season (this season) with a much reduced budget. We then pay for it with a lesser budget. Or worse still, we end up with some players who we are paying way over the odds on contracts that we cant get rid of, who we signed to try and help us make the next step up. An example of where your g@mble worked. Luton Town. I recall looking at their finances, googling their owners £ etc. When they were pushing for promotion. I tell you what mate. If they hadn't of gone up (2 years ago) they'd be fcuked. They went up, on penalties in the play off final. Got the money. BUT if they hadn't of done, they'd be screwed. They got lucky, got the sky £, and now they carry on getting it with the parachute payments. Fair play. But last time they tried it, they ended up in the national league a few years later. Totally under the radar, they basically 'Risdale'ed it, and got lucky'. There are so many clubs that have tried it and its left them in utter sh1t for years and years. Languishing in the lower leagues. We don't have owners who can finance such g@mbles. Like Wrexham do. I didn't want us to risk it. Id absolutely swap 1 season in the championship for 20 more years in leagues1 and 2, Id love to see us try our luck at that level. But only if we could afford the come down. And thats on the basis that we 'made it there'. Unless our owners were able to write off a 500k - million pound punt on us getting promoted at odds of around 8/10/12-1 then Im happy with what they did. We comfortably sustained league1 level. This time round. I think its worth, all things considered, that they 'invest' a few quid on trying to sustain this level this time round. They probably will want out at some point soon, and a league1 football club is worht more than a league2 football club. Certainly in the vanity market. So chucking a few hundred grand at the gig this time round will probably serve them well. And us. Who knows, I aint done the numbers. But I reckon Im not far off the money. If they'd done that last year and it backfired then I fear we'd be a bit knackered. Who knows. Hindsight and all that. But hopefully my long reply will demonstrate that from my perspective at least, it had nothing to do with lack of ambition.

If by some miracle we had gone up last season we would be in a similar position in The Championship that Southampton are in The Premiership.

True. But Id love to see us strut our stuff at that level, even if it was just for 1 season. But I aint quite old enough to be able to stomach the come down if it meant we chucked silly money getting there with no way of sustaining it when we get there. Id rather wait for our sugar daddy to come along or we get there 'organically' like say Wycombe did during Covid.

Fair enough Shane but my main point remains. I started supporting the Cobblers in 1966 when we were in the top flight. It's been mainly downhill since then. So coming up to 59 seasons and we have been close to the second tier just twice, 1987/8 under Carr (6th) and 1997/8 under Atkins (4th). Like I said, these opportunities come about once every 30 years so I say, f*** it, it was worth the risk. I wasn't actually asking for millions to be spent, just a couple of starting additions. Instead the club and the majority of its supporters settled for 14th and safety, totally ignoring the history books and what normally happens after our one season of consolidation. If that isn't a lack of ambition then I dont know what is.

Managers like Bowen and Wilder* are rare to come by! Whether we like it or not Jon Brady is the only recent Manager who can possibly follow in their* footstops!
We should stick with him, as at the moment he is our only hope of survival as a EFL Club!

Similar to Brady. It fell off a cliff when the club, like last season, decided that we'd done enough at Christmas. It's a common theme. Atkins was closest, losing in the play-off final. Carr would have made the play-offs had the formula been the same as today by finishing 6th, however in that season it was 3rd to 5th plus the third from bottom side in Tier 2. That's from memory so if I'm wrong I apologise.
