Hoping his defensive role will really free the others up to support Eaves. Really good debut

Il call it in and get slated.
He reminded me of Ian Taylor
Won the ball , passed it to a team mate , kept it simple.

Looked solid and his height will be an advantage too. Think Nolan's coaching will be good for our central midfielders in general. I thought Hondermark had quite a decent game today.

He looked decent today, especially in the first half where he was here there and everywhere (in a good way).

He will be a real asset when fully fit and up to speed.

On todays evidence Taylor’s shooting and heading was a lot better  Tongue

I also thought Hondermarck was good enough today. He seems to be the new target for some people. Shaw will be a big help to the midfield. I also think Couchane is decent at whathe can do but he's not a ball winner. I'm hoping that for now, Shaw and Hondermarck can do the dirty work, Couchane can hopefully be freer to do what he is good at and we can get McGeehan back asap.

The midfield isn't the biggest issue, lack of goals is. Eaves needs someone to play off him. We've no out when the pressure is on. Fortunately, neither Stevenage nor Burton were much cop. If the midfield is going to work they need an outlet.

Agree also, TJ was immense today. Him and Guthrie will make a solid pairing

I thought that was an excellent debut from Shaw, showed some nice touches.

Interesting that Nolan took Chouchane off and left Hondermarck on.

Interesting that Nolan took Chouchane off and left Hondermarck on.

And we conceded ground, defending deeper, once he came off.
I think it was a match too far for Chouchane, he was tiring. People seem to forget that he's only 21.
I like him.

It’s hard to be too critical of Chouchane and Hondemarck because whatever you think of them, they’ve been available every game recently and it’s bound to have taken its toll. Easy to say he was crap he didn’t hold onto the ball well enough etc but they’re out there digging in and for now that’s good enough. As we get more competition for places and hopefully players are a bit fresher we can demand a bit more.

On Shaw, thought he was tidy without setting the world alight. Won his headers, made a few tackles, added a presence. Decent start.

I think there is a good player developing in Chouchane - yes he makes mistakes but there are touches and passes that look class.

For a first game and no previous understanding with the team I thought Shaw had a great game

We were much worse when Chouchane came off, he does make mistakes, but he’s a young lad, I like him too.

Interesting. I think Hondermarck is slowly getting better and better, no coincidence he is now playing regularly and get a good run going. I like him as a person and his different background too.

Chouchane is growing on me. I agree that he can be a bit lightweight, but there are glimpses of a decent player. And he’s improving his vision and his stamina all the time.

It’s no coincidence that since Super Kev has come in all the midfield seem to be playing a lot better.

Regarding Chouchane;

Looking at this from his and his club's point of view, this could hardly be going better. Regular football at a level that both stretches him and he can cope with, adding to his value with part of the cost borne by the Cobblers. At a higher level now he'd probably not get the game time whilst at a lower level he'd probably get kicked to death. Another year long loan could be to the benefit of us all - both clubs and the player. We should get an even better player.
