Pinnock is the only player to have not been injured this season and indeed since he signed in 2021 has played 165 matches.

I'll leave it up for discussion why he seems to avoid injury compared to others.

He says he’s a ‘top pro’ which is why. They asked him on the radio last week!

Manny’s choice….

Mitch Pinnock, Nik Tzanev, Akin Odimayo, TJ Eyoma, and Tariqe Fosu.

I would also try and get Terry Taylor - classy and probably affordable.

I’d have tried to sign Taylor on a permanent deal at the end of Jan!

CC was the studio guest on the cobblers show tonight...

Pretty much said there will be a big overhaul in the summer with so many players out of contract...

Good to hear & most definitely needed imo

Also, the current youth players are absolutely nowhere near the level needed to be integrated into the first team...

He learnt lots at Southampton and hoping to implement a proper youth pathway moving forward, but first the players need to have the quality & application, which most of our current crop obviously don't have...

Sounds like he's here for the long haul & won't jump ship again which was reassuring to hear  Grin

I assume the big summer overhaul is part of the reason we rushed to get him in.

IF he makes a success with the youth academy, then I am fairly sure that he will be off again, if the bigger boys come calling.
In the meantime, this sort of structure takes a lot of time and expense. And is no guarantee of success, as Southampton are conclusively proving this season. Also, somebody who has just been sacked for under achieving, promising to make changes and improve standards in the current set up, might not go down too well with our current team of scouts and coaches.  If you set yourself up for a fall..

I welcome it. The current  regime isn't exactly working either.

I wouldn't put too much emphasis on Calderwood being sacked at Southampton. Martin was sacked and as is usual in these cases when the manager is sacked his management team follow.

Thing is, he never hangs around long enough, to see any tangible change in any of his positions. I would very much doubt that any of the actions mentioned in the provided link will be implemented here. If we dont expect too much, then we will not be too disappointed.

This is the very large list of players who are out of contract this summer. A big job ahead for KN and staff.

Who would you keep?

Lee Burge (option), Tyler Magloire, Aaron McGowan, Jack Sowerby, Jon Guthrie, Mitch Pinnock, James Wilson (option), Nik Tzanev, Ali Koiki, Liam McCarron (option), Harvey Lintott, Akin Odimayo, Will Hondermarck, Tariqe Fosu, TJ Eyoma, Patrick Brough, Max Dyche.

That leaves only these players (SEVEN) under contract - Jordan Willis (Jun 26), Sam Hoskins (Jun 26), Tom Eaves (initial contract Jun 26), Nesta Guinness-Walker (Jun 26), Cameron McGeehan (Jun 26), Jack Baldwin (Jun 26), Liam Shaw (Jun 27).

Now we’re nearer the business end this is what I’d like to see

Burge - release
Magloire - release
McGowan - release
Sowerby - release
Guthrie - see how he gets on in his recovery
Pinnock - keep
Wilson - release
Tzanev - keep
Koiki - release
McCarron - release
Lintott - release
Odimayo - keep
Hondemarck - release
Fosu - release
Eyoma - keep
Brough - release
Dyche - hmmmmmmmm ask me again in a month

Of those under contract I’d be trying to move on Baldwin and Willis as well

That’s quite a cull - I probably agree with the majority though. I’ve got a feeling that Pinnock will get offered a new deal but will look to move elsewhere.

I'd release everyone bar Pinnock & Eyoma to be honest...
Agree about listing Baldwin & Willis too...

Can you also clarify if Wilson has an option to extend in his favour, as that would be an horrendous c0ck up by the club if that's the case!

I've just renewed my season ticket & expect a very different looking squad, whether in L1 or L2

I'd keep McGowan, a good leader in the dressing room and solid cover at right back / centre back

Pretty much agree with this... on the fence about Fosu but don't think he'll stay.
I'd also like to keep Willis, but of course his injury record is a concern. Same applies to Magloire + Koiki to be fair, but I think Willis has played a lot more than both of them combined since he's been here.
Would only keep Tzanev as no.2.

If we stay in L1, would love us to try and sign a couple of the loanees too. Roberts will be out of reach I'm sure, but Taylor + Costelloe feel obtainable. Problem is when they do well, they will attract other suitors!

I’d keep Wilson so he can clean the shîthouses with a toothbrush, the effort he put in on Saturday deserves a new contract of this type.

Depending on expected salary, I'd be keen to give Sowerby at least pre-season with us. I didn't like carrying McWilliams, Fox and Sowerby - but I'd be more than happy with just Sowerby. But his wages would have to reflect his squad status.

I'd be happy enough with Dyche staying. But he really needs a season at League Two level if possible.
