Secretly I'm waiting for Manny to reveal where he used to hang out in between rallies and demonstrations.
I believe that Cinderella's door policy was tie, no trainers and no black shirts.

We tried to explain to our kids the other day that you wouldn't be able to get in anywhere in our day wearing jeans, a hoodie and trainers. I don't think they believed us.

I used to and still can go to any of the places I wanted to go wearing similar. I wouldn't have wanted to go to any of the places that only let you in if you were taking part in a fashion parade.

I remember even bog standard pubs like the Beamhouse wouldn't let you in wearing trainers on a Saturday night.

Not sure about that, although, must admit I've never been a trainers wearer and not even sure if I remember The Beamhouse.
I've been going out in Teyn since the seventies and can honestly say I've never been refused entry to anywhere I've wanted to go because of what I was wearing.

So, why were you refused entry?

Railway Hotel at Blisworth, Back in the 70's they used to have some really good bands on there, it was run by Big Bob Knight the landlord of the Nags Head in Wollaston, where loads of top bands played
That was the place, well done Rog.

Round our way the measure of a good night out was to wake up in Back of the Nets front garden covered in frost.

That wasn't frost. Whenever we saw you unconscious in the garden we'd go out there and p*** on you. By the time you'd woken up it had frozen.

That’s true, although I was a bit annoyed you refused to do it that time I was on fire.

They never were that fussy in the Black Lion or Saddlers though!  Grin

And the Beamhouse was next door to the Cordwainer, opposite the Fish. (or the market tavern, or tommy flynns? at some other points in time)

I've been refused entry to various establishments over the years, Baroque on the corner of Fish St for wearing Prada shoes "No trainers mate", the big night club near St Peters way for wearing a polo shirt "Not enough buttons mate, The Barrel Bar next-door to Shipmans for wearing a leather jacket and having spiky hair "oh no we don't serve your sort", a club in Leicester "no trainers". The list goes on a bit

Not one of those that wanted to help poor people to annoy Daddy. But rather than mixing with them, learnt how to say tally ho in Latin and avoid getting buggered in the showers instead?
