Roberts' first touch, control, ability to turn and carry the ball and range of passing are all Championship-level plus. He is clearly our most technically gifted player in those areas. However, his end product in terms of goals and assists has been lacking - not just with us but in his career in general: just above 20 goals in around 200 appearances.
That's why we have him in the first place.
Let's face it: for all the nice touches from Roberts, Hoskins and Pinnock have contributed far more in terms of goals and assists this year.
At some stage in his career, I think Roberts could have an 'explosive' season when the finishing starts clicking and he starts making killer final through balls/crosses to match the slick build up play. Hoskins went through something similar in his chart-topping L2 season when he suddenly seemed to increase massively in composure: he stopped taking unnecessary extra touches, started shooting earlier and in general started making the right decision to pass or shoot on a much more regular basis.
Could that happen with Roberts at Sixfields? Possibly. Who knows whether we'd have any chance of signing him anyway. What I'd like to see is Nolan challenging him to produce more and to provide more of a clinical killer instinct over the last few games. It would be great to see Roberts fulfilling his true potential, whether it's here or somewhere else. Marcelo Bielsa saw a player in there, and there is no finer compliment in the game.

Didn't Bobby Robson tell Alan Shearer to stop running around so much and just attack the goal? Maybe that's what Roberts needs to do..

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyler_Roberts - assuming these stats are quite accurate... ...they show clearly that he doesn't ever have full seasons. With us, he's been injured on and off (like have many) but the issue with us is if someone is taking up a disproportionate amount of the budget (I have no idea whether he is or not this season but if we were to bring him here on a permanent contract he surely would be) then they really need to be fit more often than not. Roberts has not produced the level needed on a consistent basis to be considered for next season unless of course Birmingham pay around 95% of his wages!

It's not really surprising that this board is dying, down to under 10 posts a day
Says he, who has spat his dummy out and re-joined every ten minutes. Why don’t you try the Trust forum 😂😂😂

I see you have changed your original post, but not before I had seen it, which was in extremely bad taste It's a good job I do come back otherwise you would be down to single figure postings, I blame the moderators

Don't think this board is dying, more the case there's not too much to talk about, East Srand is finished, Season is drawing to a close with fate in our own hands, new manager has settled in, done the double over The Posh , Trust has gone quiet. So all in all it's pretty sleepy rather than dead at the moment.

IMO anyone with a slightly different view on anything has left because they get bullied. Have a look at any other club of our size and compare their boards, they're not as "Sleepy" as this

IMO anyone with a slightly different view on anything has left because they get bullied. Have a look at any other club of our size and compare their boards, they're not as "Sleepy" as this Of course they are. Your bias is ridiculous Roger. Nobody disagrees with your backing of the Trust. Nobody disagrees with anyone’s backing of the Trust. But they disagree with “some” of the current board members, who are clearly obstacles to progress. It is great to see the more rounded types who have been, or are current board member. The likes of Michael, GPC and merry comrade. Your attacks on the moderators of this board, and your petty digs at its activity carry no credibility. You have enjoyed uncensored access to this forum for years. And you have had your say on many things, as well as using it for a platform to promote the Trust, and your interests. But you rarely take others opinions well. I can’t imagine anyone (me included) that would consider it the end of the world if the HE disappeared tomorrow. But it has provided a decent, varied, and many times contentious platform for many Cobblers supporters over the years. Moderating it is not easy, and with no reward. But at least we are doing something. Not always to everyone’s taste. But still out there for everyone..

A tiny non-league forum isn't cutting it.

You obviously missed the big smiley after I said "I blame the moderators" Nigel . The only time I post in defence of the Trust is when someone posts something incorrect. I post about Trust Travel on here but that is a service to the fans, providing travel to away games I appreciate that moderating isn't easy but, a few days ago, someone had a dig at something Michael Walker had posted about players wages, by saying because he's a Trust director, you can't believe him. That was bang out of order. Genuine question, do you think that's OK ?

That was bang out of order. Genuine question, do you think that's OK ? No I don’t Roger. An old friend of mine recently reminded me of how he thought I was coming across to Michael. I can’t say I wholeheartedly agreed with him, but I am more than happy to accept his view. So for the record, I do not agree with any anti trust statements. But comments surrounded some of the less savoury Trust directors, are fine with me, unless they are of course obviously false, or abusive. I can't understand why Michael would be in anyone’s crosshairs. Because I believe he is doing his best to advance and in some ways redeem the Trusts reputation.
