We have a 99 game history with Reading which they have had much the better of with 51 wins to our 28 and 20 games ending in draws. We have just edged home results with 21 wins, 9 draws and 18 defeats. I would point out that 1 of the games I have as a draw some sites record as us having won this is because in August 2010 in a League Cup match at Reading after extra time the score was 3-3 which we went on to win on penalties 4-2 after 4 penalties each. Our Swedish GK Oscar Jansson who was on a months loan from Spurs saved 2 penalties and we scored all 4. In the case of a cup game finishing all square I record it as a draw and not a loss or win depending on the outcome of the penalty shoot out.
Reading are 3rd in the home table but only 16th in the away table and they crept into the play offs on Tuesday after winning 3-1 at Shrewsbury, they have won 5 away games the others being at Exeter, Posh, Cambridge and Wigan so all lower table teams. They have drawn 7 and lost 8 scoring 24 and conceding 35 and only Posh and the bottom 4 have conceded more away goals. Their recent form has been good as they have only lost 1 of their last 14 games (0-3 at Blackpool), winning 7 and drawing 6.
Reading have scored more than 1 goal 19 times (8 away) and failed to score 10 times (6 away). They have conceded more than 1 goal 11 times (9 away) and kept 11 clean sheets ( only 2 away). Their leading scorers are Harvey Knibbs with 15 (17 in all comps) and Sam Smith 11 (12) who is no longer with them as he joined Wrexham on the last day of the January transfer window. As I noted in an earlier post we have a rookie referee in Greg Rollason who has officiated mainly in the National League, this season he has 1 division 1 game, 5 in division 2 and 1 EFL Trophy game.
You would expect KN to stick with the 4231 formation with an unchanged team (when did that last happen?). We need to bring our away form back to Sixfields and continue with the high press as Reading have let in a lot of away goals and if we can replicate our Posh form their is no reason we cannot add to our points tally. Hope it isn't a case of "after the Lord Mayor's show".
Disclaimer: I would remind you that all stats I post (and those from GPC) are from our existence in the Football League and do not include our Southern League history. This seems to upset Marvo who calls me "lazy" but if that was the case I would not bother to do this at all. If we are unfortunate to later slip into the National League I would not include those results also. Any stats I posted from the Posh game will not have included the many games we met in the Maunsell Cup which he may consider relevant.

I didn't say you were lazy, I said the websites you use are lazy, they cant be bothered to research the full stats. The stats you could use if you so choose are all on this forum, the most comprehensive NTFC stats on the web. You choose not to use them because I compiled them, I'm fairly certain that if it had been Grange or anybody else for that matter who had compiled them you'd have used them without hesitation. You don't like me, I get it, and I'm comfortable with that. I've never seen a forum as a personality contest. The club, as they showed earlier this month when they quoted passing the 5,000 league games use ALL their league fixtures, not just adding the Southern to the football league but also the Midland and Northants league too. If its good enough for our club, its good enough for me too. We've actually played Reading 128 times. I'd rather be right than have to put caveats on our history. Note: The Maunsell Cup are not included in my stats. You'd have known that if you had ever bothered to look at them.

Managers like Bowen and Wilder* are rare to come by! Whether we like it or not Jon Brady is the only recent Manager who can possibly follow in their* footstops!
We should stick with him, as at the moment he is our only hope of survival as a EFL Club!

Well thanks Freddie for your insightful contribution. I see you joined the forum almost 14 years ago and in that time have made 186 posts, I'm sure many of the standard of the last, so it can be forgiven that you haven't learnt yet how to work the quote button. Just looked at your last dozen posts and saw you quoted me (correctly in some instances) four times. I'm obviously getting in your head. Relax and breathe.

Actually Marvo if you reread your post you did call me lazy. You said the websites "like you, they cannot be arsed to do the research, lazy" which clearly labels both the sites and myself as lazy not that I am bothered one iota what you think. I have said many times before that I am only interested in our football league history so would not be researching anything other but you are interested in what went on before which is your prerogative. I also said if we sunk into the national League I would not record those results, each to their own preferences.

Seriously, I have had my moments in the past with both OAP and Marvo, but have never taken it too seriously. It is what is is. Both of you are retired old buggers who derive pleasure from attempting to prove people wrong. That may be the only avenue of stimulation open to you these days, but maybe its time to move on?

I think the club records are incredibly interesting - do the managers records only include league games? If they do, could you add a final column - points per game? [And to be really cheeky, could you ever make some of them downloadable?] I'm really interested in the attendances... It must be a true labour of love

The managers records on this site include all games. Adding columns is tricky. I don't mind doing it for you however space on each post is limited and do the the set-up, the pages on a PC look very different to the pages on a mobile. I can't do much about that as the set-up is the same for both so you have to compromise. Maybe in the summer I'll have a revamp. My Cobblers records (on excel) are available to anybody, just pm me your email address and I'll send them to you. Several people have them now, which is good because it means they will continue in existence long after I don't. Our history is important. All of it.
