Not too much possession but made it count when we had it. Well done boys… PS 47 will be enough. Before you start patting yourself on the back, I think you may have overestimated the points required. Rovers currently have 43pts so would require a win and a draw from their last two matches against play-off chasing Reading (at home) and Blackpool (away) to reach 47pts. It wouldn't surprise me if they lost both those games and finished on 43pts, which would mean we were safe (on goal difference) when we drew at Cambridge in March, with some 7 games to spare!

Managers like Bowen and Wilder* are rare to come by! Whether we like it or not Jon Brady is the only recent Manager who can possibly follow in their* footstops!
We should stick with him, as at the moment he is our only hope of survival as a EFL Club!

So 47 would be enough in that case, which is what I said when we had 47. A brave person could have said it when we had 43. Anyway, 47 may not have been enough yet…but probably will be. It’s the only unknown remaining. Nice to be safe with a couple spare, very uncobblers like.

Well done Cobblers! Great achievement to stay up and, as others have said on here, I'm looking forward to seeing what Kevin Nolan can do next season, especially based on the recruitment so far. Taylor, Shaw, Costelloe and Perry have all been excellent signings, even though only one of them is guaranteed to be still with us next season.

As todays results show possession means nothing. Cobblers 38.6% possession win 4-1. Mansfield 64.8% possession lose 1-5. Bristol Rovers 71% possession lose 0-1.
I see on the Shrews board comments of a game between 2 poor teams and if they could stop giving away soft goals we were there for the taking.
On social media Bristol Rovers fans think we will let Crawley have the 3 points on Saturday, well the couldn't blame us if we did.
Shame about not keeping a clean sheet but as somebody mentioned earlier I don't know why Burge gave away the corner when he could have collected the ball. Overall a comfortable win against a very poor side.

Yes, but Evers sees me at the northern games, so he knows I have credibility. In fact he looks forward to a few bon mots when our paths cross.

A very dominant display against a woeful Shrewsbury side. That said we had a job to do and did it in style. A big clear out needed but there are reasons to be optimistic if Kev’s given the funds to build his own team. Let’s not have any of this seeing what’s left over this year…. Get our targets in early and compete in the transfer market Well done to the players and staff and all fellow cobblers fans…. As an aside could Crawley still stay up if we rest a few players with niggles next week??
A tad optimistic. We increased our playing budget last summer, but it didn’t come close to matching the average increase across the division. If that average increases by a similar amount next season, the figures required to financially compete are going to be truly eye watering. It’s probably going to need some more outstanding forays into the loan market just to tread water. That’s the reality of where we are in terms of resources, but doesn’t necessarily mean we are in for a bleak season.

Was it the Che Guevera tee shirt, and Wolfie Smith beret, that triggered such a response? On a first date as well!

Delusional from Shrewsbury fans. We played at an average level and dicked them 4-1. We probably had another gear or two. They were so so poor.

I don’t mind admitting that I’m a little disappointed. Promotion or relegation at stake I really look forward to a ‘squeaky bum’ period at the end of a season (providing we come out of it the right way of course). I was hoping for that time to start with the game yesterday, but what happened? Well, we were never in danger of not winning and coasted to victory and Bristol Rovers lost without a whimper apparently (the ‘Gas Fans Forum’ makes for entertaining reading by the way), so it all petered out very easily. So, no knotted stomach this year, no elevated pounding of the heart, no sweat appearing on the brow, no sleepless nights, no loss of appetite due to the worry and stress of it all. Oh well, there is always next season to look forward to. Well done NTFC!

We did what we had to do yesterday a few really good performances
Shrewsbury were poor and no wonder are were they are
I was in his say near the Shrewsbury directors. As the 3rd went in they left saying along the lines I'm glad most these players won't be playing for us next season

Apologies if this has already been mentioned as I haven’t read back through the thread.
Dara Costelloe’s two goals show what a rare raw talent he is. Both put away with precision and power. But the first with his right and the second with his left. You’d struggle to know which was his stronger foot, which is pretty rare at our level or any other in fact.

I think Costelloe has demonstrated once and for all that if you are prepared to run like you are being chased by a lion for 90 minutes you will have a real future.
