I’m sure we all hoping for a successful summer window. Chances are there will be some good signings, some average ones and some terrible ones. Let’s hope the last window wasn’t just a luckily good hit rate.
This, it’s always a lottery when signing players for every Shaw there’s a Wilson.

We need to take a punt on players who on 'paper' may look not look inspiring but have the attributes or potential that suit how Nolan wants to play. I'm sure when we signed Bayo very few would have been optimistic about his arrival, I remember him being laughed onto the pitch when he was brought on as a late sub by Millwall at Sixfields.

Our key to success will be having the scouting talent to identify good players who haven't yet found their feet and fly under the radar, which Liam Shaw is a recent example of.

It's probably more common for us to be let-down by signings who came with good pedigree. Harrad, Kirk, Eoin Jess, Hylton.

I remember being excited when we initially landed Leon Constantine as he played like a lower league Thierry Henry when Southend played us a few seasons before, before ending up being one of least effective strikers we've had in recent memory.

Conclusion. It is a lottery. Once price, wages, injury record, attitude, ability, age and stamina are taken in to account there is only a husk.

My mate at Uni was a Port Vale fan. I remember him going on a rant about Constantine when asked if they had ever had a player who just seemed to score whilst looking and being terrible  Grin Grin

Donkeys don’t score goals from free kicks like Eaves did at the slugs! A very assured and classy header.

it was indeed; a bullet header. One of the best team displays this season.

Going back to last summers transfer window there were plenty of suggestions that we should go for Chris Conn-Clark who was banging in goals at Altrincham. I don't know if we showed any interest in him but he ended up at Peterborough where he has only scored 1 goal in 19 games.

Huddersfield have released 18 players today. I wouldn't mind Josh Koroma out of the list of released players... Think he was their top scorer this season, might be unrealistic but it's that time of the season where we can look at other clubs retained lists and see who we'd like here.

I suppose if we signed him we could all sing "my, my, my Koroma".

Wouldn’t be  unhappy with Koroma, a good age too.

Would be good though realistically, unless we're able to purchase them, we'll probably not see Terry Taylor or Dara Costelloe here again.
Although I'd be happy with Ben Perry returning, he's got lots of potential and reminds me of a young Jordan Henderson... Wink

Jordon Henderson 😂 have you been on the pop mate.
For a very young lad he’s got loads of potential and will be better next year.
