Southampton at home;

Really ought to sell out. Plenty of atmosphere. BEDS will be demanding a larger away supporters stand.

Away to Wigan is the opener. (and Costelloe to score)  Grin

Or, Costelloe to pick up an injury and we all breathe a sigh of relief.

Been a while since we have had a decent first round draw. Like that a lot.

Calderwood and Nolan will probably know more about how they will play than they would about our own XI given this summers overhaul! 😁

Finishing the season with Cardiff, Luton and Plymouth.

Hopefully we are nice and safe by then!

Our home game with Blackpool in September has been brought forward to a 12.30 kick off as it is being shown live on Sky.

Carabao cup first round draw:  at home to Southampton.

Confirmed as Tuesday 12th.

As side note, I've only just realised Bolton away is a Sunday 3pm kick-off (January 4th). We can't have had too many Sunday kick-offs that wasn't bank holiday enforced?

We play on New Year’s Day which is standard, which is a Thursday so it would be to give us time to prepare for the next game. I’d imagine it’s the same for everyone.

Yes, a full programme of games on the Sunday, also unusually the Thursday/Sunday pushes FA Cup 3rd round day back to the second weekend in January.... not that we have to worry about the third round too often!

We have a relatively kind set of 6 games in August. Home games with Bradford, Lincoln and Exeter are all games we should be aiming to take 3 points from. Away games are at Wigan, Stevenage and Orient, we have a poor record against Wigan but decent records at the other 2 and we ought to target at least a point from those to give us 11 points in the month.
Any strikers or other players we sign next week will have less than 2 weeks to be integrated into the squad and we probably won't get some loan players until the season is under way, so we will be the proverbial "work in progress" for the month. In this scenario I would rather be playing teams in August that we are not expecting to take many points from even if it leaves us in the bottom 4 at the end of the month. I would much rather play the scheduled matches later when we have a settled team and likely to take more of an advantage of the fixtures.

What do you think the target will be for the first 'block'. Or should that be on another thread? Where's Dan when you need him!

I would be targeting 11 points from the 6 games, win the home games and draw 2 of the away games. There will be other months when our points haul could be low.

I'm being pestered to take the wife and an 8 year old nephew to the Birmingham game.
On the day that'll cost £48 and £42 otherwise. I thought that was a bit steep so I checked the PortVale site who also play Blues at home on the same day.
Being 62, both me and the wife would get in for a fiver, as does the kid. £15 the lot.
I know more work around here, but fcuk me, where's the equality in that?
One for the IFR in future and why everyone needs to join the Trust so they can add some weight...

My son wants to go but £18 a ticket for an adult is just ridiculous!
