One thing ive noticed and i personally wish Sammo would stop making is "chance" signings. This is one key part of being a successful manager and ultimately where you'll be judged in the long run. O'Flynn, Lumley, Herbert, Harris, and now Slowe, all have two things in common, cheap and unproven.
Nathaniel Wedderburn looks like he may have something about him, but yet again a mere novice in the game - bar a decent loan spell at Hereford, he has barely played much competitive first-team action.
I understand it's worth taking a punt on a player every so often, as you can come by a gem, but most of the short-term/permanent signings since Sammo took charge have all been relatively gambles.
Admittedly the loan signings have been excellent for us last season, but were more down to the contacts of Malcolm Crosby who's obviously in the loop with the youth set at Middlesbrough.
The point is i'm hoping to hear of a few more established signings, instead of looking them up on wikipedia.
