If he's good, we'll forget all about how he came to join us. If he's not, the whinge hasn't even started yet.

No sign of him last night and no mention about him from Sammo in the Chron today, despite him explaining McCready, Hinton's and Gilligan's absence.
Wonder if he'll make an appearance at Corby on Saturday?

Another no show on Saturday, he was there though mixing with the players. Is he injured?

...or has he just turned up and turned out not to be quite as good as our extensive scouting networks in Ghana and Cyprus suggested? Or maybe his agent, sorry Dad, sorry agent...over-sold him to us?

I know people have mentioned it about ten times already and it's probably quite a boring explanation but weren't we waiting for international clearance?

Perhaps the clearance came through with only four minutes of the game remaining. An extra two allowed for warming up.

Although he only played 2 minutes, from what i saw i don't think he will be making many appearances this season. Looked kind of bandy-legged, is he related to Harris!

In fairness there's a good chance Harris will start a few games this season, he looked calm and composed again yesterday in defence but this time against Championship opposition- he arguably looked like a "competition winner" in his first few appearances but as with anyone you sign who hasn't had the chance to play competitively at this level before, you need to give them a chance to develop, and to find their best position. I hope our fans don't form their opinions on Slowe before he's had a chance to do this.

Slowe will not play in any league matches during his contract. I honestly believe that he was signed without any Northampton representitive even seeing him play. Good luck to Alistair for giving it a go at the club but in all truth his dad got him in through his agency but he wont make the cut. The squad will soon notice this at training.

So you rate him then?

Bless him, he just is not good enough. You can see natural ability very quickly, an he has not got it. No one really knows anything about him but the team/management will soon realise that he is in the wrong league. Lucky he was free!

It will be interesting to see if he gets any game time against Nuneaton. He's been training here for a few weeks now so jet lag/ clearance etc shouldn't be an issue. If he doesn't get at least 10-20 mins - in a pre-season where even youth teamers have been getting game time - I think we can assume he won't feature too much in Sammo's plans.
It does seem pretty strange that he was given a contract rather than a trial. If you look at other 'wild card' signings like Harris and Herbert, they were given a trial before being offered a contract.

While he doesn't have the physique of a traditional footballer, and a rather obscure past experience, to write him off before he watching him given a decent run is moronic.

Maybe it is a bit harsh. But moronic would be giving an unknown player a 12 month contract without a trial period. You must have some knowledge about this player and it can not come from his Dad! Ok ok lets give him a chance, but he needs to play and he needs a good 20-25 mins. Watching him for 2 mins showed weakness that should not be seen in that time so he has plenty to prove. Good luck Alistair, hope you get on the pitch.
