Just to keep things tidy, here's your match thread for the opening pre-season friendly of the season as The Cobblers travel cross-county to face newly promoted Brackley.
This will be the third season in a row where we have made the trip, last season we came back with a 2-1 win courtesy of goals from McGeehan and Guthrie, former Cobbler Scott Pollock netting for Brackley, and the year before again 2-1 to the Cobblers, goals from trialists with former interim manager Gareth Dean on the scoresheet for the Saints.
Both those games were played in the third week of July, so this one comes much earlier in the prep work ahead of the new season, a mix and match side for The Cobblers with the customary trialists looking for their chance to impress and earn a deal. Brackley will feature a smattering of ex-Cobblers in their squad.
The game kicks off at 3pm, tickets are a tenner in advance and £12 on the gate, car parking is £3.50 card or cash and first come first served. Don't forget the Silverstone traffic management scheme!!

Travel via Daventry- Banbury- A422 to avoid the A43 misery, just leave plenty of time for the journey.

Our strikers will be too good for Brackley’s defence.

I see that Brackley are away to the Isle of Man on the 12th. That would be a nice pre season jolly.

My area of the county. I'm going to be doing a little shopping at the nearby Tesco between 3 and 6 pm.

Not sure what the Isle of Man has to offer apart from a low tax regime.
Brackley are away at IOM on the 12th, we are away at Norwich on the 12th. I know which one I would prefer for a couple of days break.

See if Tesco have any strikers for sale.
Kelvin prefers B&M. B&Q would be better for us loafers, you can return stuff for no good reason! I once returned a boomerang cos it was for those of a bend sinister persuasion.

JH just confirmed Swyer and Baldwin are not going to be involved along with long term injured Eaves, Guthrie and Shaw.
JH doesn't think the first two are injured, make of that what you will.
