Top of the page as well. It's like the words are meant to come back to haunt us.

Don't worry.  It will never happen because we won't go down.

So we would beat teams like Luton who spent £150000 on matthew barnes homer alone.
We havnt spent £150000 in transfer fees in the last decade.
Money talks in the conference Crawley spent and went up Luton have spent and are up there same with Wimbledon and fleetwood(as I recall ian sampson tried to sign a player earlier this year but fleetwood offered a better package and he joined them!!!
If we go down what spending power will we have exactly??
We will soon be treated to we now have to cut the budget again etc etc.
I honestly think there are more reasons for thinking we could go straight down rather than straight back up.
The fact we will be a big club in that league won't matter two hoots as I'd like to think attendance wise we may be bigger than accrington morecambe burton Macclesfield etc but the fact is they are better football teams than us on half the attendancies!!!
The time to judge is at the end of the season and not before.
That said if we lose our hundred odd year league status I would be very surprised if many fans still backed the current board that have overseen the last decades shambolic tenure.

The majority of teams that go into either of the Blue Square North or South are either in administration or are part-time. In fact, you're almost guaranteed that at least one team will go bust and take up a relegation spot.

If we go down, we will have the second highest sustainable budget in the conference, based on ticket prices and attendances. Highest if Luton go up. Budget means f*** all though, so what what's happened this year. Accrington can't even afford to pay their players wages!

Well I accepted that we were going down after the Bury game. And before anyone says it; I certainly don't during the 90 minutes when we are actually playing! Its just the in-between times; this team hasn't got a win in it. Been saying it for weeks and we wont win again this season. The question that remains unanswered is whether or not the 47/48 points we will end up on is enough to escape the drop? After todays results that seems to be unlikely, but surely one of the teams on those points now will lose their last 3 games. Law and averages and all that. We will know very soon!

I think we'd somehow still end up losing to the part-time pub teams. And then, we'd have to cope with Rushden and Kettering moaning all the time that they don't get equal radio coverage for their 1000 strong fan bases.

Think you'll find that if we go down, the saints will suddenly find themselves with a kit more radio coverage/commentary, whether they are home/or away!!

I think they'd be right to moan to be fair. Not now, but if we were all in the same division then I only think it's only fair that the away teams get the main coverage. Unless you're massively exiled you shouldn't be listening to us on the radio when we're at home anyway, get down to Sixfields!  Grin

I'm not, it'll be **** and this sort of accepting the mediocrity we're headed towards is part of the problem.  We go in to the BSP and it's going to be very hard to get back out again, only 2 up and only 1 automatically.  It's a slippery slope to oblivion in my opinion.

No..DON'T ACCEPT THIS MEDIOCRITY...infact, if we do go down..I implore every Cobblers fan to not go to one game at Sixfields in a show against MEDIOCRITY!
I loved it at Forest Green...thats accepting fcuk all...simply enjoyed it..village..Stroud and pubs...as the poster said..looking foward to it or not..could be a reality! Stop trotting out the tired old cliche s***e of 'not accepting mediocrity' every time BSP is mentioned ffs! Roll Eyes

Footnote: I've had to accept mediocrity..I'm a Cobblers fan..and I've renewed ST for next season! Wink

I keep switching between accepting it and then not being able to consider it without feeling ill.

To me, it's more of a case of never being non-league that's the kicker. I have no doubt we'd bounce back in the FL, be it one season or five, but even after returning our history will be 'tainted' by that relegation.

I console myself by the fact that no-one else would give a f*** if we've been non-league or not, and most probably assume we have before anyway. But still.  Undecided

Thats pretty much where I am.

Part of me thinks the Conference is only slightly marginal more crappier than league 2, with half of league 2 made up of traditionally non league teams and vice versa.

Then another part thinks will get out eventually, and when we do we'll come back stronger.

But then I look at the fixtures against Alfreton, Braintree, Tamworth and Barrow and feel sick and angry that its even become a possibility.

I really love non-league grounds and the whole atmosphere of non-league football.

However

I don't want to see f**king NTFC down there!

There are some real pondlife posts on this thread. There would be nothing good about the conference.

Come on lads. We will stay up and play the mighty Crawley next season ! There are plenty of non-league grounds in League 2.
