Obviously it could all be sorted out by then, but I doubt it. For the record, I think if we win tomorrow, then we'll win the remaining games as well, its just that I'm not very confident about winning tomorrow. Back at Shrewsbury, many years ago, it seemed like the team were heros after that win and I think I had faith in them to do it. Now if Morecambe is to be another Shrewsbury like situation, I would not be classing the team as heros, just a bunch of inept idiots for getting us in that state in the first place. Is it that I was claret tinted back them and now I've grown up a bit and have gained in the pessimism stakes? Those who were already forty plus back on the Shrewsbury day, was the team as bad as it is now? Do we have less faith now because of the constant internet criticism? Will Morecambe be the new Shrewsbury? A place of legends? Or the graveyard of The (Once) Mighty Cobblers? You wouldn't think I've had a nice day today would you?

The short answer to your question is that I fear "no it won't".
We had no right to win at Shrewsbury. There was no logical reason why that bunch of no-hopers that was left after the administrators moved in should have won at Shrewsbury, but win at Shrewsbury they did.
Conversely, there is no logical reason why the current overpaid mob should have plunged the club into the crisis they have. But here we are. It just goes to show that on any level, money doesn't buy happiness. Look at Bury. Can't even get the gates we get and yet they are going up. Look at Accrington. Wouldn't be surprised if they nailed the last automatic promotion spot. Then look at us. Enough said.

It has to be "B" Another big smile on my face. I always get the big decisions right.
Couldn't be happier, you can all blame me if it turns pear shaped. Up next year without a doubt and no need of the play-offs.

Unless we take 2000 and 200 lads taking over the place...numerous pitch invasions...and a win of the magnitude at Shrews... ...then..erm..no! Though a fair few of us are going to try and emulate such exuberance...in Lancaster!

To stay up in 92/3 was an achievement with the players we had, 93/4 proved that, where pure luck kept us up.
This situation is in a different stratosphere. Now we are under achieving big time, after all we sacked a manager 2 months ago because he couldn't get us to the play offs. Having said Morecambe will probably have nothing to play for, unlike Shrewsbury that day, which could prove useful

Anyone who thought shrews or chesterfield was "good" is an absolute tool! The OP of this thread is a classic tool for loving our desperate predicament because he rearly visits sixfields, real Cobblers fan now thie senario is friggin s***e.

In the case of Shrewsbury 93 certainly...'good' is retrospective...it was bloody fantastic actually!

If Kidderminster scrape their way into the BSP playoffs and win them, and we go down, it'll be like history catching up on us since they're the team whose ground wasn't up to scratch in 94.

I don't suppose we'll know until 4.45pm on 7th May. It could be another incredible day, it could be absolutely devastating. I have more memories of Shrewsbury in 93 than I do for the trips to Wembley. Shows just how close we came and just how much the club meant to the fans. The atmosphere was terrific than sunny day at Gay Meadow. Please don't put us through that again

The next three games is a matter of having the most experience players on the pitch, being the likes of Andy Holt, Leon Mckenzie etc

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I can assure you that I do not love our current predicament. I have been massively on edge all weekend and I don't need this kind of stress. I don't stress for work or my family, but I do for the football - how stupid is that! I never thought Chesterfield was good, it was one of the worst days of my life. I think Mr Armchair has it right comparing Shrewsbury to Wembley. Shrewsbury was defintely my best memory of the Cobblers until we won at Wembley, as I only started going to games after the 86/87 season and there wasn't so much to shout about in those years. It is true that I rarely visit Sixfields, but I do go to every game that I can, which recently has been very regularly. This might explain why I have so little faith in the team. Anyway, see you all later today, still trembling at the horror that could await. And if we do the business before then, so we are already safe, I'll be at Morecambe anyway.

Agreed...it was a horrible horrible day (until the goal went in of Pat Gavins arrrse!). I really hope we are safe by Morecombe and can just enjoy a good day out with the lads... Unlikely though...

I am surprised nothing has been said about the game being all-ticket.
We could have similar problems at home to Stevenage. No decision has been made and they took over 1,000 to Southend.
