Back in 1989 I served Frank Carson on the Northbound side of the Newport Pagnell Petrol Service station. I asked Frank for his autograph and he bellowed out quite loudly "I'm to big a superstar to give an autograph to the likes of you" and stomped back to his car. A little while later he returned to my counter with photograph in hand and asked me my name and signed it for me and bought me a can of Coke, shook my hand and wished me all the best.
I wonder how many at the time only heard the first part of that and went away thinking badly of him?
R.I.P. Frank
