Raquel Squelch has died. If you'd have asked me I would have said she was already dead.

Motty, surely the greatest football commentator of all time and the man whose voice I imagine whenever anyone mentions something that has been said in a football commentary.
My personal favourite was during an England match at one of the major tournaments (2002 World Cup, I think)
I forget the exact wording but it was something along the lines of "Argentina aren't happy, but who cares?" Then there was a brief pause followed by a little chuckle to himself.
We were watching it at work and that chuckle triggered a huge roar of laughter amongst us.
Some months later, we were out at for lunch at Motty's local in Redbourne and he was in there having a drink. One of my mates (who wasn't really a football fan) went over and told him that story and said that moment had been the highlight of the tournament for him. Motty was very gracious about this, but was somewhat perplexed as he hadn't realised he'd done it!

At least one thing you wouldn't have got with Motty is this stupid thing of saying penalty "kick" and corner "kick". It's hardly a penalty throw is it? All started when the dumb árse septics had the world cup.

Ian Bairnson passed last week. Good guitarist, played with the Alan Parsons Project, Pilot and did a lot of session work. Perhaps most notably did the guitar solo on the end of Wuthering Heights for Kate Bush. Another one who had Alzheimers.
