I see form the official site that the club are not participating in the reserve fixtures this coming season.

They are choosing instead to arrange reserve matches as and when they feel they need one.

Do you necessarily know, though, in advance, when you're going to need the friendlies? And do you know you're definitely going to find a team that's gonna be willing to play a friendly? Surely it makes more sense to know when you've got games coming up well in advance, as you do with a reserve league, so you can plan for getting first team players back from injury as soon as possible?

It isn't hard to arrange friendlies with reserve teams. Also the fixtures for the reserve league were all over the shop so hardly reliable.

Our reserve team is basically our youth team and they are in a youth league anyway!

Fair point although I believe we do have trialists in there every now and then.

Reading the article on the site there were concerns over some of the travelling, ie Norwich, it also reads as there are may localised teams that would be willing.

Apparently it is becoming the norm for clubs to drop out of it.

Think this is a good move, the youth team is still there and i'm sure nuneaton, long buckby etc(early pre-season teams) would be willing to play a reseve team come middle of the season when there games are being postponed due to s*** weather and s*** pitches! And if more teams are doing this then surely thy will call us for a game. We could always volunteer our services as The Hotel End FC, anybody free on a tuesday? Cheesy
