As I see it rushden the team directly set up to fcuk up the cobblers are now collecting at our ground in a bid to save themselves. What a great idea!!!! The team whose fans wanted our club to die. Whose fanbase probably contains ex cobblers fans. The team born out of spite towards the cobblers. Listen hear and listen well... When our club was right on it's arse they couldn't wait for ntfc to go to the wall. To have collections for them tonight was Imo a disgrace and nothing less. Take your buckets and stick them up your arse. If your response to our plight years ago had of been positive I could of lived with it... It wasn't the fans of diamonds were pissing themselves at the thought of us going bust. I'm a fan who contributed to other clubs collections Exeter etc in their hour of need but to be asked to give money to that bunch of bandwagon jumpers who helped set the cobblers back twenty years was a disgrace. Whoever allowed this collection should take a look at themselves. I hope rushden and diamonds go bust and go bust quickly. Good ridance.

They failed in their attempt. I don't give a s**te about Rushden anymore than I do about Kettering or Corby or Brackley. If they want to hold their little bucket collection, who cares. They'll never play us again. Rise above.

And breath...
I'm happy for our club to play the moral high ground on this one. These collections won't save Rushden so there is no need to refuse them permission to try...

If you could go into more depth over them points it would be much appreciated.

Yeah fair enough lads but I will never forget their reaction to our dilema. It's said time is a great healer. Time was when they wouldn't piss on us when we were on fire. Yes I know I shouldn't bite and that's the last from me on it. Not many things piss me right off but this did and it did because I love my club and I hate the way we were treated by rushden.

The easiest thing to do would be for the club to say boll**ks to you, take your buckets somewhere else and we hope you die. However, the club's stance is one that should be admired, and will go along way to unite Northamptonshire football, which is something that I have long wished to happen. I would far sooner see talenTED youngsters from R&D come to the Cobblers than go to the Posh, and anyone who really has the club at heart should feel the same.

Unite Northamptonshire football? Sorry Ted but I can't even begin to fathom what that phrase means or how it would benefit my team. I certainly don't bear any altruistic feelings to Kettering, Corby or the Dims simply because they reside within the boundaries of the county I was born in. We're the team of the county town, the only club in the county that has ever sustained league football, frankly we are Northamptonshire football. A bucket collection taking place at Sixfields that won't have any affect on RDFC's future will have zero influence on whether youngsters go to Posh or ourselves once the Dims enter receivership.

If the buckets are empty it'll tell it's own story.

Completely agree, having grown up in Higham Ferrers when they were at their 'peak' it was horrible as a number of people I went school with suddenly became fans and there was a fleeting time when they overshadowed us. Most of those people have now reverted back to following Liverpool, Man U etc and this is always the issue with new teams and if they arent succesful they lose the bulk of their support pretty quickly.
As people have mentioned, when we were in financial problems and more recently when we looked like we could go down they were saying good riddance etc and revelling in our down turn, now its their turn and theyve suddenly turned into a scene from Oliver standing there with the little gruel bowls asking for some more!!
I hope they survive for the sake of the office staff etc who have families to support so for this reason alone Im glad our club took the moral highground and allowed buckets last night, yes it will be futile but we come out looking like the good guys.

Well, it's plain to see that I'm in the minority over this. However, I stick to what I believe in, and rest safe in the knowledge that I've always been exceptional, and probably always will be.

There are only two clubs that I would not shed a tear if they went. One being the plastics down the m1 and the other being the dimmies. I hope Kettering can sort their issues out but who knows. I find it amazing that conference rules don't allow ground sharing as that could've helped both clubs out in the short term. They say time is a healer but I do t think this applies to football fans. I can think of several incidents over the years that still hold strong feelings now (crossley anyone) and the way the dimmies were formed and the way their fans laughed has not been forgotten. I have always said that if they went right back down to where they came from and worked their way back up I would not hold a grudge anymore, looks like I sill get to test that theory soon.

Was it as much as £58? Must have been from their own fans attending?

Was it as much as £58? Must have been from their own fans attending? Well I saw at least 12 fans so our income was £60 on night - so we were £2 up (plus add-ons food, progs etc)- so worth doing. OK I know most of income goes to FA but we get cash for hosting event and those fans hopefully helped increase our portion.

What was your £60 for?

was the over-inflated fee for Mr.Turley, and the 'undisclosed' fee for Razor, a way of allowing Max Griggs to keep the Cobblers afloat in secret? Was there more to the Max Griggs relationship with the Cobblers than met the eye (please remind me, as my aged memory fades - am I right in thinking that he had hoped to take over & build a new ground before the snub from the council led him to create his own rival at Nene Park?)?
