Living down in these parts i know from talking to the locals that this game is going to be far from easy. In particular they have signed Billy Kee from Leicester City and he has been on fine form scoring for fun. He's in the Dean Windass mould of strikers but will definitely test our rearguard on Saturday as he is strong, makes good runs and knows where the goal is with his feet and head.

My friends who support Torquay have said that although hes ungainly he's been awesome and when hes on form he's unstoppable. A battering ram they called him.

I reckon they will be worried about our BIG signings too.. Wedderburn from Stoke Thornton from Coventry Hall from Coventry Purcell from Darlo Not to mention Davis, Guinan, McKay, Gilly , Holt and even "free scoring" fringe team players ! I predict a 1-1 draw...followed by a defeat to Brighton and a 3-0 demolition of Accrington just like last summer!

Id like to think our defence is a cut above that of Tiverton Town and Weymouths

I suppose all the clubs down there are Chicagos type cheesefests? Doubt they've got a decent old skool trance or house night on this Saturday? I can but dream I suppose

Torquay United v Northampton Town tips
Visit William Hill
* The last three games between Torquay and Northampton have produced a total of only two goals. * It is more than 10 years (May 2000) since Northampton won an away league game at Plainmoor. * Torquay won six and drew two of their last eight games in 2009-10 to banish any relegation fears. * Northampton scored more goals (33) away from home than at home (29) in 2009-10
Facts taken from William Hill....I reckon if we come away with a win, we'll have done VERY well indeed....!

We'd take a draw wouldn't we? Just don't wanna lose the opening game of the season...

Where are the statto's? What usually happens when we either win, lose or draw on the opening day, if there is a trend?

Torquays main danger is going to be our over-confidence,I hope our fickle fan base remember that the season is a marathon and not a sprint.would happily take a draw from the first game of the season especially away from home.

Is anyone not going Torquay?
From those I've asked, seems like it'll be an extremely claret Devon tonight and tomorrow.

Not me I'm afraid...the game fell smack in between 2 weeks abroad and a week away in England so no can do this time...I prefer to go when it's cold wet and miserable because then if the footy is any good it brightens the day up

Do you know what "Nemesis" means?
A righteous infliction of retribution manifested by an appropriate agent personified in this case by a sex starved voyeur that is Tyro.
