Since when have you ever crossed swords with Marquis or anyone else for that matter?

Crossing swords with someone is a bit gay isn't it?

I appreciate Marquis running of this board but i have no interest in crossing swords with him.

Back on topic, my assessment of the game would be very similar to Dillywangers'.

I don't understand the criticism of Bayo. It was a typical Bayo performance. The kind of 70 minutes we know and mad-love him for. For the first goal, he put his boot back on, skinned the full back and put it on a plate for Tozer. I also see one of those headed flick on's releasing Jakey Robinson for a goal in the near future.

I agree about Tozer, I think he had his best game in midfield. However, Bully is looking a class signing and would be my MOM. He does what I expected, but the quality of some of his touches and passes is well above expectation (which probably explains for me the interest in him from Chesterfield).

I like McKoy. Sure he looked like a centre half up front, but the guy is big, strong, seems to have a surprising turn of pace. He's the new Mr Versatility and should be useful. Speaking of versatility, still not sure on Holy at centre back, just due to pace. Although Doig did ok for them until getting cut AGAIN!

I seem to be in the minority in thinking Young did well when up against a very good winger for Reading. Frequently he was left with two doubling up on him thanks to the still disappointing Davies roaming around on a seemingly free role. A real potential weekness that seemed less of a problem today, being perhaps more disciplined in keeping position. I'm not alone, however, in agreeing that Young did well today. I think some people have written him off due to his stature alone, but we need pace in that position that we lost with Jason Crowe, and he covers in behind the centre backs really well when he can. He did so to close out the Wycombe striker who had left Jonno and Webster, just after entering the action. Wycombe's no 11 left winger was very dangerous, and he was hardly in the game once Young nullified his pace.

Not perfect, but a more encouraging performance. If we can boss teams like we did for a lot of today, the defensive frailties won't be exposed too often. I hope! Lastly, I was fairly impressed with the way we finished the game, comfortably on top. Contrary to those who said we tired after an hour, Tozer looked fitter than against Reading and Bully and others were full of running at the end. Fitter than a tired looking Wycombe for me.

Westwood played 30 odd games in 2 years so about 30% of games - the least I expect is him to play for free for a few months let alone weeks

Think his mate holt will have played a hand in his deal

Regarding Westwood, maybe he was the unnamed ex player we had in the trial days, apparently he made contact with the club not the other way around. Also this thing about the month, I don't think it was meant as in a months contract just that he'll be training with us for a month and then we'll see where it goes from there.

You would think he is on non contract terms so could play if needed

A month takes him to the end of the transfer window which seems a sensible time to review it

You would hope Johnson has other targets but it will depend who he can move on to make room

I think it's a shame that we end up with Westwood, when Chris Doig is apparently touting for a club - six years younger and a better player in his day - not sure what that says about our contacts.

I thought about yesterday:
Walker - looked sound, but not quite as confident as he should be entitled to given his size and strength
Nana - looked much improved, just need to see if that follows through under pressure in the league
Corker - looked like a perfectly good player, if it had been a non-league game several divisions down. Sure, it was a great ball and finish for Ainsworth's goal, but Corker lost the ball in flight and then got out-muscled
JJ and Webster - looked perfectly solid, but not under too much pressure
Turnbull - hugely impressive, a player to build a side around
Tozer - surprisingly impressive, and also offered something going forward
Jacobs - bit of a lazy day, but we know what he can do
Davies - worryingly anonymous, hope he's not in a sulk at not playing centre-mid, which is what he thought GJ had promised
Bayo - loved that he was building up a sweat in the warm up and really put in a shift. I love him, but we'll never all agree
Robinson - worked hard, looked quite lively, bit like Billy McKay with more strength and purpose

Young - really impressed, great ball for the goal - we may be on to something here
McKoy - again, impressive cameo out of position, reckon he has the potential to be a bit of a cult favourite
Westwood - what the f***
Holt - we know already...

Guess that's pre-season for you: some good signs, some worrying ones...but it doesn't really mean much more than building up a bit of fitness and getting a run out.
