I actually wasn't having a go at Glenn, because everyone knows who he is by his absurd comments. Anyway, we've made up now, and I might even take up his offer to buy me a drink.
Offer closed now , read the T&C's

Their phoenix club won't work, no f***ing way. Not enough support and not enough people care. Hence why the went bust. 14 people turned up to their open trials Saw a thread on their message board about some RDFC fans watching Kettering instead and they suggested MK Dons as an alternative, sums up the plastic of them. Also they now will play at Raunds.....trying to form another plastic club outside of their own town. They should just give up. The people on their message board seem to be a cliquey bunch, i tried to register but it was denied. That will help people get involved Their own 'fans' killed their 'club'. Fact. Their own supporters trust signed the ground etc over, good decision!!!! f*** off and rot you plastic c***s.

I was speaking to someone very close to Max the other day, and I can tell you that he's absolutely distraught with what's happened.

Kettering Town are just as bad as Rushden now, the way the Kettering fans are behaving is despicable.

Agreed, I've lost any respect for KTFC. They're a s*** plastic franchise playing in a s*** plastic stadium. They'll be called something else within a couple of years and dead in 5.

I have mixed views on all of this. On one hand, to hear Max being distraught doesn't bother me one jot. If he had been that bothered he could have put his hand in his pocket and rescued his folly. Or is he down to his last £100m? Either way, he could have helped had he wanted to. I can only assume that it suddenly dawned upon him a few years ago that he was just throwing money down the drain and decided enough was enough. If anything, he should be "distraught" at his own stupidity and vanity in setting the ill-advised venture up in the first place.
Effectively, what he ultimately did was kill two harmless non-league clubs.
Now, as for R&D themselves, well I won't lament their passing but I do feel sorry for any young kids who have supported them and they have been their only club. As for the older generation, it's a different kettle of fish. They clearly moved from supporting other clubs (maybe just as armchair supporters) but I suspect R&D took some KTFC support. In fact I amd sure they did. So I am not surprised if KTFC are dancing on their grave.
As for us, well, I felt that they ceased to be relevant once they went out of the league. Their supporters thought they were going to rule the roost in the county and they had their day in the sun but it has all ended in tears. They upset the balance of football power in Northamptonshire for a few years but that's all.

It has to be "B" Another big smile on my face. I always get the big decisions right.
Couldn't be happier, you can all blame me if it turns pear shaped. Up next year without a doubt and no need of the play-offs.

An excellent analysis BP. When Max handed the club over to the Trust, I believe he knew that it would all go down hill rapidly. However, to save face, he softened the financial blow by subsidising the club for two seasons. What this did was merely delay the inevitable.

Exactly, if Griggs cared so much, why did he set them up and bankroll it all, then abandon it? 'Football is a business" and that's not a successful business model. You at least make them stable and try and trade like a business, then at the very least you stand of chance of being able to sell it on, rather than just desert it! The Cardozas have the right idea, make the club stand up financially, so it is actually run as a business, then everyone benefits. They make money, the club make money and the fans have a club to support.
But hey, Griggs didn't do that, so fcuk the lot of them!
