Another experienced player who it won't hurt to have around. Gotta be a clean slate for him

I still think this is a ridiculous signing but time will tell I suppose. At least his contract gives him a strong incentive to perform well/stay fit/have a positive influence.

He's cheap and local. That's the long and short of it. Not many people would relocate for non contract terms

I'm not sure what surprised me more, having Ashley Westwood back at the club, or the surprise anouncment of Bas Savage. Either way, both look like cheap short term stop gaps. Can't hurt and can only have a positive impact  Wink

Poor signing, ultimately it should come down to footballing ability and he's proved a liability in the past, reckless in the challenge, sluggish and injury prone.

I'm sure we have enough characters in the dressing room, cack reason for signing a player.

An experienced pro should have been a prority, but someone who is of the standard and relaibilty to be starting games and completing a season, Westwood is none of these things.

Dreadful signing - still we need some cover at the back so let's get someone who is fit, likeable, humble about their own ability and doesn't confuse the goalkeeper!

Don't see how he can do any harm if he's playing for free and here as a squad player.

Hahaha... He isnt playing for free! He was here previously for a months training/trial without being paid - rightfully so, now he's registered to play, he'll be paid!

f***ing hillarious.

Moaning because we needed to sign an experienced defender.

We sign one.

Ah right, my mistake, thought GJ said on the radio after Wycombe that he was initially going to be here for a month for free.

How many games in before he gets injured? Remain very unconvinced on this one, it just brings it home how far we've declined in recent seasons.

Who else would you sign instead? Experienced centre backs available for pittance, name them?

He's a back up player so won't be playing enough to get injured.

We really have come full circle back to about 2004, when the Cardozas were last chucking cash at us to get us out of this division and we were signing...err...Ashley Westwood.

I always thought he did ok to be fair, just got injured a lot. He is on a rolling contract so can be released at any time, its no biggy really. You need those stand ins at any football club. No-one is saying he is the bollocks just saying good back up player. I would be scared if he were our number one centre back of course.

Who said anything about characters? He has bags of experience to offer some of the younger lads. Played 450 games, quite impressive for a cack player.

The real reason he signed is actually to give you a scapegoat for the coming season.  Kiss

So, you would be scared if he was our number one CB, that speaks volumes.  A back-up player should still have sufficient ability to step in when needed, possibly for a prolonged period, if a seriuos injury occurs.

When you stated about him being good around the dressing room I thought you were referring to his character, perhaps I misunderstood , what was meant by that then??  Making tea and putting the lads kits out ? LOL

Lastly I don't do the scapegoat thing and certainly never abuse our own players!!
