So I know Jefferson Lake mentioned 'there was nothing to worry about'. But doesn't anyone else find it a bit odd that he's been training at the club for a few weeks now, and still not put pen to paper?

There must be some complication, be it length, money, or just holding out for another club. Or else he'd have already signed, right?

We'd be a bit stumped if he decides to jump ship a week before kick-off without a chance to get someone decent in. Even if he does sign, we haven't got any cover in that position have we, unless Charlie Death is thrown into the deep end like Luke Chambers once was.

Says in the Chron that his Contract with Coventry doesn't actually expire till this weekend so he will sign after the weekend.

I reall do hope it is as simple as that, I just hope it isn't due to having talks with other clubs!

I hope that is the case.  If so I wish the club had said that in the interviews when talking about Marcus Hall.

I have been getting a bit nervy about this one as getting so close to the season starting and would be a big blow to start searching for another left back or been forced into moving players about into different positions than planned.

So one minute you lot don't want the club publicising signings before they take place and the next minute you do.

I'd bet my life savings that if they did say that and then he signed somewhere else you'd have a moan as well!

Some Cobblers fans really are mentalists aren't they?

I thought that was part of the terms and conditions of supporting Cobblers?

Think it is listed under point 164.C. Must Be Mental.

Its been more than 20 years since I signed that contract, I'm not sure I ever read the small print, I thought it was just assumed!  Wink

I want it confirmed when he signs and not before.  But if there is a simple reason its nice to know.  I certainly wouldnt want them announcing he had signed until the pen is on the paper as we know that doesnt mean much to certain footballers.  The fact is he was offered a contract about a week and a half ago maybe longer and it is unsigned.

With not long left to the season this is a slight concern.  If he did have a random contract which expired next week surely players can sign pre-contracts.

Confident he will sign but I hope we have back up plans just in case.

How do some of you lot get by in life if you worry about every single little thing? If the club aren't fussed then I don't know why you should be, it is far more important to them than you

lol I am hardly losing sleep over it but isn't this forum a place to give opinions? A place to speculate, worry, moan, praise etc about the Cobblers.  You seem to get frustrated at people talking about Bayo.  You seem to get frustrated at people discussing players who have not signed contracts.  Must be so annoying reading opinions about football on a football forum.  Wink

The thing is that if the club had just said he was a trialist, after this length of time we would all be wondering what was going on.

Much in the same way as we are now.

I find it quite refreshing that the club have been so honest under Sammo's command.

Long may it continue  Smiley

Training and playing with us as a trialist before signing on 31st July.

Thats a good point.  He agreed and signed his contact the day before the Brackley game apprently (Which he got injured in!) but wasnt announced for a fair bit after.

a) I just can't fathom why people are still going on about Akinfenwa when he left about 2 months ago

and

b) I dunno why you're so worried about Hall signing. It's already been stated that his deal at CCFC doesn't run out until next week so where is the worry?

People will talk about Bayo because it is pre season and not loads to talk about.  Plus it is interesting to see where he ends up for a lot of people.

Players can sign pre contracts.  Thats the only thing that seems a bit strange but not overly worried as doesnt have a queue of people wanting to sign him.

He better commit soon though.  Some players are interested in taking his place.

Seriously, where and how has he been linked with us?

All I can find is this article on sky sports about him where two cobblers fan mention our left-back position post-Gilbert in the comments page.

Surely that doesn't count?!

I recommend that Mr. Lockwood doesnt hold his breath waiting for a phonecall from Sammo.  Kiss

I always liked Lockwood when I saw him play, though that was admitedly some time ago. If he is still as good, I wouldn't be averse to seeing him arrive at Sixfields.
