Davis given 23?

Probably asked for it, 23 seems quite a popular number in sporting circles.

I wouldn't take much notice of that little lot, for a start Johnson will be a regular and he's number 14.

True, squad numbers don't necessarily mean anything, but it still gets me thinking why John Johnson is no.14, billy McKay no.16 , as said Liam Davis no. 23, but the one's currently out of the picture Steve Guinan has the generally prefered no.9 shirt, likewise with Craig Hinton at no.5. Hmmmmmm...the mind boggles.

Davis given 23?

I would have thought Davis would be 8 and Osman 23

Exactly.  On the day of the match they should get their numbers - one through to eleven depending upon what position they are playing and then the subs after that, missing out 13 of course due to the unlucky nature of that number.  Youngsters, this really used to happen before somebody realised that you could make a fortune selling shirts with Beckham 23 or Slowe 21 on them.

Wayne Gretsky was called "The greatest player of all time" by Total Hockey, he used to wear number 99.
When he retired from playing, all NHL teams 'retired' their number 99 shirts.
Bit of Breakfast trivia there.... Tongue

I don't need "Slowe" on my back, I think people would assume that just by looking at me.  Cry

I was just looking at the squad number list on the offy site. It has been updated with the new Spurs keeper on there saying on-loan from Spurs. For Johnson it still says on-loan from Boro. Is this true and we haven't bought him officially or they just can't be arsed to update his name on the site?

They just haven't updated it, it still listed Jason Steele on loan from Boro the other day...

I expect it will list a few random ex players throughout the season on the squad list.

This isn’t related to this thread but who is captain this year? I read in the Chron the other day that Holt has been given it then on the next page it said Hinton is still the captain?  Undecided

Hinton is club captain. Holt will wear the armband on the field of play.
