is interested in joining us, but we've made no contact apparently. Can't see us going for him though if Hall signs, especially with the likes of Holt, Johnson, Rodgers and Davis who can all play at left back if needed.

Worth a punt though?

The quote from Lockwood saying "I wouldn't have a problem with dropping down to League Two at all. I've played at that level for virtually my entire career, so I am definitely open to all offers", would appear to be a direct response to the following quote from Sammo when talking about possible replacements for Gilbert: "Players like Matt Lockwood are out there – I don't think he'd be interested in us - but that's the calibre of player you're talking about."

If that's how highly Sammo rates him I suggest he goes and gets him, the player is obviously tipping us the wink that he would like to come here and his high regard for our club has to be a plus point.

McCready left last week and he was on wages that League 1 Tranmere couldn't afford so there surely has to be a bit of leeway financially.

Don't let him pull the wool over your eyes, he's just coming out with the usual b.s when a player is looking for a club. Remember him being a real s*** back when he played against us for Bristol Rovers and Leyton Orient as i remember it, not sure he would have spoken so highly of us back then. It's not often that i'll object to a signing as much as this one, plus his hair-style is clearly wrong on every level!

Are we signing Marcus Hall though. We have been signing him for the past few weeks, what on earth is taking so long on that front. I can't help feeling he is still hovering around waiting for a better deal.

As stated in the Hall thread, we're waiting for the end of Hall's coventry contact before we sign him. But if he does a Gilbert, at least we have an 'option' I guess.

Is that a fact though? I thought the vast majority of all player contract ended at the end of June.
