I thought the C & E was supposed to be a professional NEWSpaper. By not backing Steve Riches against the club he was forced out from his professional independant weekly column (with occasional stories from inside the club) and now we are offered cheaper amateur reflections of past events from well intentioned fans. It won't happen but I hope David Summers (Editor) finds a backbone and reinstates the popular Mr Riches. If I want supporters views I have this website available, with updates 24 hours a day, instead of obtaining my local EVENING paper at 7am!

Deffo not Steve, can vouch for that!
I can see both sides of the argument for and against the fans stand. It's good to see different views from different fans, you must remember that a lot of Chron readers wont read Internet forums. However Riches column was genuinely insightful as he had a decent mole or two at the club, was it not Riches that resigned out of principal though?
I haven't read the Chron today by the way so don't know how it all reads.

Agree with the original poster, just seems like a cheap way for the Chron to fill a couple of pages to me.

I bought it today and it is utter cack. By giving six people something like 300 whatever words each you've just got random general guff from amateurs. I can hear that sort of crap in the Tavern. And with all due respect to Mark from the fanzine he's the editor of it not a writer. Can't see any of the better writers from the fanzine in the chron. Crap
I feel for Steve when he reads that

Unless you're speaking in factual terms or connected from within the football club, then one persons opinion to another shouldnt hold any more validation, whether it be the likes of Steve Riches or some Joe Public on the Chron 'Fanstand'.

Utter twaddle. So opinion pieces in quality newspapers are written by no-marks are they? No, they're written by humourous, perceptive and intelligent folk who can write. They don't just give them to random blokes off the street like the Chron

And who's to say that there isnt humourous, perceptive and intelligent folk 'on the street' to give there views, you're all about the name arent you? The game is all about opinions, doesnt make yours right, it doesnt make mine right, it doesnt make a top sports pundit off the telly right either. What makes you think the previous columnist was of such high standing?

Personally i thought it seemed like a cross between Fanzine & the extended version of the same text we keep getting in the chron most weeks. Fair play to the lads who put the effort in and for doing it but at the moment i'd still prefere Steve Riches column.

Only just had chance to see this. and I have noticed that myself and Banbury Cobbler are both in the banner photograph. Obviously the club wanted to present their fans as a sophisticated lot. Any other Hotel enders appear?
