Ok so I was only a third right, you don't need an A level in maths to be a Cobblers supporter just a few fingers to keep count of the silly goals we give away

Once upon a time I would have said something like, "Shut the fuck up, dim Yankee twat!" But you're not worth it, Feelie.

...thousands of fans to stop attending...
Right!
Can you explain what's so ridiculous about that statement? Yes, we only get a 4,000 home contingent now, but those aren't the same 4,000 people every week. I bet the number of fans that attend at least one game at Sixfields a season, runs into the tens of thousands. Is it really unrealistic to suggest that a number of them might get to a stage where they think "**** it, I'm not doing my usual half dozen home games this year if we're playing Conference football..."?

NTFC nut, i must admit i am one of those fans. I would love to go up every week, but i do have to choose which games i attend, the attendance won't increase when you hear what i'm hearing and seeing with results and 'hearing a pin drop' at sixfields which i have read in tonight's chron.
Its a result game and those fringe supporters will support the club when its an enjoyable exciting atmosphere to go too. Harsh but true

How many season ticket holders do we have? Soon it will be down to them (although some ST holders will probably soon stop going if they haven't already), plus one man and his dog. Anyone who has attended a game at Sixfields will know the garbage currently on offer, the woeful atmosphere, the s***e catering and the freezing weather approaching! We'll struggle to get many £20 notes for that pleasure.

Not to mention the shambles that is paid parking. I've said before I paid for my season ticket but haven't been for the last few games as the whole experience from the minute you arrive is depressing. The catering and prices £6.50 for a burger meal(costs half that at mcdonalds...two quid with a 50/50 ticket)£1 for a bag of crisps!! You pay £3 to park in an unprotected car park(and having my car broke into after being told by the attendants that they stayed there during games only to find out that I'd been lied to was a disgrace) Finding that sometimes there is a funfair in the home car park and you can't park there anyway. Having a beer that is often undrinkable or paying more for a small diet coke than you do in sixfields tavern or tgi Fridays(where you get free refills). Being cramped in their and having to wait ages to be served if you can get to the bar(usually there are morons who've been served blocking you). Then you get to watch the spectacle that is ntfc!!! About two home wins in god knows how many attempts. Five goals at home this season. A two bob outfit of unwanted/free/loan/youth team players who don't even play in their correct positions. An atmosphere so embarrasingly apathetic that you get more enjoyment listening to it on radio Northampton with terry Angus. I listen at home now rather than enduring the sixfields experience. Give it a go it really is more enjoyable. Then you try to leave and if your car isn't one that's been broken into whilst not being looked after for £3 then you can sit in wonderment at having paid for the privelidge of having your car blocked in!!! All whilst finding out your CDs and a camera have been stolen(including the best of the specials)who were so good when I saw them Monday night in concert at Cheltenham that I immediately got a ticket to see them in Coventry this Saturday. All in all people don't really want to pay for days out at sixfields. Who is to blame for this??? Is it Gary Johnson.

I don't see a problem, doesn't everyone experience this as well?

The original poster made it seem like a possible future event. Back to the future, perhaps, before Sixfields? Well, you should both know that it's nearer than you think and will have occurred before Conference football becomes a reality. That's all.

On tuesday my younger son, bored watching the game, started messing about and kicking the back of the seat in front.
Thankfully the chap sitting there didn't wake up, and my threat of "stop that now or I'll make you come back on Saturday" worked perfectly and he has been as good as gold every day since.
He's 6, been to a dozen or so games since the middle of last season, and has never ever seen us win.
I'm not expecting so much as a card next fathers day.

I thought the support today was first class. Even when we gave them a goal after just 2 minutes. And when we were under the cosh for significant periods. It doesn't happen often but I was actually f*cking proud today.
All the threatened "stay aways" on here obviously went through with it, and the overall outcome was a positive one.

Yes, thought it was a day when the crowd and the team rolled up their collective sleeves and got on with it. As you said, after shipping a 2 minute goal, it all could have gone horribly wrong.......again.

Even though Northampton are on a bad run the crowd still gets behind the team (take note millers fans) which can make it a difficult place to go. Couple that with the tricky wind conditions I was fairly satisfied on the way home.
That was a quote from a Rotherham messageboard, first time that has been said about us this season?

2 wins from the last 20 home games, Saints playing down the road in front of 13500 and we still draw 4200, decent effort.

I was astonished given the fare on offer. I suspect that there are very few teams that could boast of such a supportive and forgiving supporter base.
